To find them on tirerack you need to search for them individually. They are not considered an actual match due to mismatch in speed rating.
I know tirerack doesn't recommend that...is mismatched really a big issue?

I went ahead and ordered Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 in 265/30 x20 (front) and 285/30 x20 (rear). FYI the 265s in this fitment just became available from Pirelli.
Thanks....I think I'm going to go this route too.

I'm no expert, but if I had to choose I would go with same tire different speed rating vs same speed rating but different tire.

Yep. Just search individually or call them. This is what tire rack recommended too. You can talk to Kyle at tire rack (888-541-1777) extension 4663. Mine got shipped today.

No. The speed difference is like 10mph between the two ratings and I doubt you'd be driving over 100mph+ ever. Go with same manufacturer.

What determines a tires speed rating? For me, the concern was not the actual speed I'd be driving - but what about the tires are different to make speed rating different? Is tread identical? Rubber compound identical?

I don't know the answer to that but I know for sure that the tread is identical.

FYI - Pirelli is running a winter rebate on tires. Valid from 11/9 through 12/14:

I ended up going with Pirelli Sottozero 3's in 265/30/20 and 295/30/20. Rear will be a little meaty, but I decided not to buy dedicated wheels.

19's

Looking to swap out the 20' for a 19' winter setup. This is right off shopbmwusa.com website. Complete setup for $3,251.00 Plus Installation.

Is there not a cheaper route for a complete setup? If not, has anyone gone this route and know how long shipping takes? I see a lot of these wheels and tire setups are being shipped directly from Germany.

Thanks!

I just got a set of Apex ARC-8s 19x9.5 satin black and Yokohama Ice guards 255/35/r19s square from tire rack and it was around ~2700. I think I had everything at my house in about a week. Looks incredible drives/feel great will post a pic tomorrow.
