They torque the bolt to 100nm plus 360deg. Which is 90deg more but equal to N54. You think we can tighten our bolt 90deg more then install the capture plate? Would there a be a change of the miss alignment of the sprocket/crank while tighten the bolt? |

I'd like to share my option that I think is the best value and that's to get an extended warranty. I paid $4600 and it covers 7 years from date of warranty purchase or 100k miles.
I purchased my extended warranty through USAA (had them before for my E60 M5) and never had any issues with claims. I think this option is hands down the best "bang for your buck"! |

USAA stopped selling them unfortunately. I too am thinking maybe an extended aftermarket warranty is the best option here, combined with a good, non-dealer shop, that has experience working with these warranty companies. Its important they know the correct language, knowing how to speak with these ins/companies is probably like 80% of it.

Directly through them? I called them sometime in December looking for one for an Audi S6 I ended up selling, they weren't selling. Is it straight through them or another company?

This youtube video talks about why its bad to take stretch bolt to a higher limit and then apply stress/heat. Crank rod stretch bolts are installed per torque spec range and then they are measured for the amount of stretch / force applied to ensure the correct clamping power is being applied. Clearly we don't have a way to measure the BMW. Last edited by overlook637; 03-24-2019 at 08:23 PM.. |

Could had been time for lunch or he had a few german beers while at lunch. Instead of correct torque setting he used the german gudintite. pronounced good-in-tight. Its how most of my bolts are installed on non-critical items.
