On my 335I, the plate was: 335i

On my E92 M3, the plate was: M3 V8

Does anyone on the board with AW/SO M3 have this plate "AWSOM3"? I would have got that if my interior were SO instead of being black. Doesn't work as well for my AW/SOM6.

Well, finally got word on my Vanity Plate ordered- S55 F80

CA DMV denied my plates and is refunding $48 to my credit card.

The requested license plate configuration is a "look-alike" plate configuration that looks similar to an existing license plate configuration. License plates with similar appearance could hamper law enforcement and other agencies ability to ensure correct match with the department records.

It says I have the ability to submit a letter describing my plate and it's meaning. I may try to do this just to see what happens and I kinda got attached to it already.

I received the same response for trying to use a "3" in place of an "E." Odd thing is that I see plates all the time with letters and numbers in place of each other. So, it must be that others appeal and get approved...I thought of appealing and then just never got around to it

Yeah. I can see their point but... I've seen worse. S55 does look tough but I plan to appeal to see if I can win.

I did just pay for another plate F80 M

My wife says it looks retarded to most people who don't get the F80 F82 E93 etc stuff.

Never understood re-stating a car/truck make/model on a plate. So weird to have M3 or similar on a plate as well as the badge a couple feet away. To me it's akin to the 'Powered by Honda/etc" stickers people put on their cars. Yeah, no shit it's a Honda, powered by Honda.

So why do so many of you choose to have the model name or the internal model name on your plates?

I ordered mine in mid November and only heard back just 2 weeks ago in CA.

I ordered the plate Feb 13th, and denial in the mail a few days ago. Maybe denials are quicker?

Wow! I ordered in December, called end of Feb, told I was denied and would be getting a letter, have not received the letter or any refund!

Weird. Maybe check receipt for correct address. Unless your plate was so bad that they have launched an investigation.

A member posted that he was surprised at the DMV counter when performing other business that he plates were there. Brave the DMV and stand in line?
