S55 Engine Oil Catch Can Necessary?

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been discussed.

I have been debating whether or not an Oil Catch Can for the S55 engine is necessary.

I was looking at photos of various Oil Catch Can installations on the S55 motor. It looks like the tubing is routed from the crankcase to the OCC then the Valve cover.

Now if the whole point of the oil catch can is to prevent blow by gases from entering the intake tract, an oil catch can in this case doesn't seem to apply because the gases are directed into the valve cover, not the intake tract.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Every 3 months I get this much out. In my opinion better in the catch can then wherever else it is supposed to go

Some cars catch a lot and others almost nothing, but I think it's a good investment. A clean setup like the BMS OCC looks really nice under the hood too.

I always thought the BMS OCC looked randomly cobbled together. The Turner OCC is the one that looks good under the hood.

I’ve had a catch can for about 1.5 years, and there’s never anything in it.

Just installed my Turner setup Friday. Like they've said, better safe than sorry.

Get a catch can!

I can't stress this enough. If you're running a tune or especially E85 I highly recommend you get a catch can ASAP. You do not was this stuff going on your intake

Hey All,

Yeah, I was wrong

The blowby hose goes into the intake pipe on the front turbo (the nasty gases will enter the intake tract via the turbo)

So I actually just ordered the Mishimoto kit! cant wait

Thanks all!
