Remove Headlight Tint

I bought the car with the tint already on the headlights and never really cared for it but now that's getting dark so early I'm looking to remove the tint but I have no idea where to start. I looked for a seam to try and peel but didn't see one but I don't know of any plastic covers for the F82. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow.

I hope it's not spray tint.

It's sprayed.....FML. I made a bit of progress today with rubbing alcohol and a scraper. I bought some Goof Off, sandpaper, and a headlight restoration kit so hopefully I'll be wetsanding and then resealing the headlights over the weekend.

Yikes man. That sucks. Might be worth looking at some headlights for the guys that are doing the ikon headlight upgrade.

You can buy new lenses for the headlights not sure how tough they are to replace as I’ve never done it personally or you can send them to a specialist and they can do it for you... you could have the modified at the same time if you wanted by someone like OSS or Bayoptiks just fyi good luck

Got a good bit of work done today. Concentrated on the passenger side and I'll do the driver's side tomorrow and polish out any scratches I can. I bought a headlight restoration kit from Walmart with 800,1500, and 2500 grit sandpaper with a polishing pad and compound and a sanding block with 1000 and 1500 grit that I mostly used while waiting on the drill batteries to charge. Apologies for picture quality but it gets dark early on the east coast.

Easy fix. Just put on brake fluid, let it sit for a while and rub with a towel.

Still have some final polishing to do but most of the work is done. It's been a long process but pretty easy to do especially with a drill.

Finished for the day. It's getting dark and my drill batteries are dead. I'll eventually polish them again and make them perfect but they're way better than before.

Don't forget to spray UV clear coat on them...

Man, imagine being so smart to fuck your expensive headlights up with some shitty tint.

For the record, the tint was on there when I got the car. I'll have to do some research on good UV clear coats unless you have any recommendations.

I know it was on there, wasn't talking about you, mate. Meguairs sells something, but I'm not sure how lasting it is

I would put some ppf on the headlights once you get it to the condition you want.

You need to put some UV clear coat, like a good 2k clear with hardener or the headlights will turn yellow. Headlights are sprayed with clearcoat from factory.

I used 2K clear on my e39 headlights. It adheres better if the lens in not polished. Some 2000 grit passes before applying the 2K will help it adhere better. I put on three coats witch left me some room for polishing should it be required. Use the coating intervals recommended by the 2K clear manufacturer. It has been a while and I do not remember off the top of my head what that was.
