Wow that’s crazy - i have 18 ZCP M3 with just under 7k miles.
It would be tempting if i can get $70k for it......

I think we’ve hit the appreciation limit. We’re bumping up against new model cars only being $10-15k away from these used prices. No matter how ugly the new cars are, you just have to buy new when the difference is that little. The warranty and free maintenance for four years is huge.

I've just got second email offer from my dealership, first one was in March offering CAD56 600 (~USD 47k) with 47k km (~28K miles) to trade for new M4, probably stripper and its price was CAD 83k

Now for May offer is CAD 62 100 (~USD 51k) with 51k km (~32k miles) they're reading connected drive since mileage was correct each time. This time price of a new one is CAD 75 300, assuming some good incentives kicked in or it's a mistake since on Bmw Canada website M4 starts at 85k. Don't remember seeing car in its first year being discounted 10K.

M4 2018 ultimate package here, bought new for 108k of Canadian money.

This. I was looking at F80s but with prices at $60K and above I am ordering a new 2022 M3. I could do that for $64,395 if I got a base model (after dealer discount and rebates) but as I've optioned it will be $71,145. I can't see paying only $10,000 less for a 3-4 year old car that objectively doesn't perform as well, even if the styling is less controversial.

Its not only “controversial” - it is horrendous to some ppl and would be a no go no matter what. I think LCI and aftermarket will offer solutions in coming years.

F80 M3 was made in much less #s than M4 plus you have 2018MY with 2nd LCI that will keep those cars desirable for foreseeable future especially if G8x is last ICE M3.

I agree...and there is only one way to go from here and that way is down. Its not sustainable.

when interest rates start going back up and time passes covid numbers go way down things will begin to correct.
I wouldn't buy real estate or a car in this market, hell....I wouldn't buy a puppy right now everything is way outta wack.

some may scoff at f80 prices being near G80 prices.

but look at e9x prices. They are the same if not more than an f80 m3 with the same miles. there is a 2013 e90 near me with 30k miles asking $48k at the dealer.

I started there but I came to accept and then really like the new front. You may never like it but I bet the market gets used to it. With light mods it works and looks mean - to me.

Wait this doesn't make any sense... I thought used F8Xs were only worth $43k and us owners/peasants can't afford anything more

Only to people who think the F8X now looks “dated” because they know the model progression of the vehicles.

I personally don't think I will come around to it (looks), but I do think it looks a lot better dropped & spaced - hopefully the MPHAS kit is available by the time yours comes in

Anyone of you who got an offer from Carvana, Carmax, etc, get an equivalent trade-in appraisal from a dealership?

Was curious since you can save on the lower sales tax of the net price of the deal (at least where I live). Typically they offer you lower but just enough to make the separate sale not worth it.

When I bought my F80 M3 recently I was able to get the BMW dealership to match CarMax's offer. I'm from Texas and do get the trade in tax incentive.

Vroom offered 47,700$ two weeks ago for my 2017 BMW M4 comp with 33k miles. Today they offered me 52,000$. This is nuts.

If I bought a car out of state and have not paid the taxes locally and sell it to Vroom do I still have to pay sales tax on it? I was told no, but not sure...

Depends on the state, but the answer is technically yes unless you have a dealers licence. The dealers licence is what allows you to get around the tax. The rest of us have to pay it.

Assume you have not retitled then?? Depends if vroom will accept the title from the previous owner.

Yea I'm actually still waiting on the title to be sent and have a temporary out-of-state registration that is good till mid June

I wouldn’t think you would have to pay. You never registered the car in ny so I’m gonna say no. But Ny will find a way to take your money lol

I think a lot of M3/M4 owners are taking advantage of the high resale prices now. Carmax is all of a sudden jam packed with both models where for a couple months they might have only had a handful of each.

Check out this gem.

Love the interior on this one too:
