M4 convertible Trims Fading
M4 Trims on convertible roof
Hi All I wondered if anyone has had a problem with the black trims fading and going motely. I have had my 2018 M4 convertible competition pack which has only done 4800 miles (weekend car) since new I tried getting them replaced under the warranty but BMW have refused saying I have put some kind of "road tarmac cleaner" on which is absolutley mad When I got the car I paid BMW around £365 for a protection on the paintwork and this is the only chemical that been near the car apart from a Halfords wash and wax every week Its in BMW as I wright this but they want £1000 to put it right or they have kindly asked if I want a part ex for a new one Any Ideas or comments would be useful Thanks Bill |

Around here BMW reps are blaming it on car wash soap. Odd that it only happens on the metal pieces and not the plastic ones on the doors. Class Action??

Is it the rubber trim that's experiencing this? If so I recommend 303 UV Protectant (30308CSR). I had some mottling on some of the rubber trim on my F82 (sun exposure and oxidation) and it cleared it right up.

On the other hand, taking it to a Halfords Wash & Wax every week … Ouch ! I would be worried about the amount of micro scratches and swirls on the paint. The BMW paint protection job in the UK is a ‘scam’, they use about £40 of materials and is applied by young 16 year lads… who have no clue about detailing. Show it to a detailer. I presume you are based in the UK, write in the M3cutters and you may get some recommended names local to your area.

AT 205 reseal - best stuff for rubber door/top seals. I've put it on every rubber seal on every car for years. My 1990 E30 convertible seals still look brand new.
