Take delivery of the F82 or wait for the G82?
Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post. I currently have a 2016 M4 coupe. Best car I've ever owned. Lease is up in a week and I have a Glacier Silver 2020 M4 with Black/Sakhir Orange interior ordered and on the way. This one is a manual (as it should be driven).
My question is, do I take the 2020 or wait a year for the all-new 2021? I am open to all of your opinions and suggestions. Thanks! |

Maybe lease something different to give it try? C63? Alfa (not sure about lease option). 718 S? That way you can diversify brands and you can always return to BMW. Just some thoughts. |

Also, if you're leasing, depreciation won't be a big deal. Just don't buy the 2020. Keep in mind though a lease transfer might be tougher before the lease is up since the new generation will be out soon. I personally wouldn't get the same exact car I'm about to turn in. That's the whole point of leasing. To have something new every few years. It won't feel that way going to another F82.

I was in the same boat as you. I am taking delivery of a 2020 M4 sometime soon. It's on the boat now. The G82 won't be out for another year potentially, and then you're probably looking out another year or two for ZCP. I'll drive essentially the same car for 3 more years, then see what's what.
I have and IND SMB 2016, and am getting the same color in and out for the 2020. I love it that much. For me, the whole point of leasing is that the bank takes all the risk, instead of me. Not necessarily to drive something different every three years. I leased three Infiniti G35/37's in a row a while back. |

YOLO - so just make a decision and run with it.
Also, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any way the new M4 is out in 2021.

The G22 will start production in July 2020, and there is no chance the G82 will lag by a year and a half. In fact, with near certainty, it will hit the market in the second quarter of 2021. |

As a moderator you clearly know more than me, but second quarter seems optimistic...

It's more about being tuned into BMW release schedules, past, present and future. Moderator status is not required - you just need to keep up with all the great information shared on Bimmerpost.

If you are leasing, try Giulia Quad - better looks, better engine, better performance. Terrible depreciation, but not an issue if you are leasing. I would not swap same-for-same, especially same-for-slower same (DCT for 6sp). But do what makes you happy! a

Cool. But there's a likelihood the car will have more something later in the generation which was more or less my point.
