How is longevity of the EBC Yellowstuff compared to OEM? What about wear on discs?

Thanks in advance!

PFC compounds are really a race pad rather than a street/light track pad.

OEM pads will last longer based on my research.

However, rotor wear should be reduced with Yellowstuff compared to OEM since Yellowstuff is a hybrid of aramid fibre and ceramic resin. OEM is really a light semi-metallic pad so the metal content will wear down rotors faster.

Some data points comparing EBC Blue to OEM Brakes on a 1M. Obviously not a F8X but comparison points for your edification nonetheless. Quick reminder - the 1M uses E92 M3 brakes and it weighs 3351lbs (https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480370). OE vs EBC Blue might not be as drastic of a difference as you'd expect:

I really give EBC a lot of credit for not exaggerating the results. Frankly, it makes me trust them more and I'll be giving the Blues a try.

+1 powerstop track day pads… noticeable initial bite and stopping power over oem, did great over 3 x 20 min road course sessions.

Now that I have experience with both brake pads, I agree with you. On the track, Ferodo DS2500 also wears faster than Bluestuff.
DS2500 is not bad brake pad, but Bluestuff is just better in overall.

I have those. They're okay in the summer, but I'm not sure how they'll do in the winter yet. They also have a ton of pad slap and rattle compared to OEM pads. On track they wear pretty quick, but haven't faded on me yet. From what I read, once you start really pushing them the wear rate gets really bad. They're only really economical in lower run groups.

It takes less than an hour to swap pads and you should be teching your car before a track day anyways. I can't imagine swapping pads adds more than 15 minutes to a proper tech. I think once I kill these I'll just go for a more full race pad an swap like I probably should have done in the first place.

Ditto on the Powerstop track day pads. I just installed and used them in Novice class at Carolina Motorsport Park. They were fade free and held up with good feel through 4 sessions. They do "clunk" a lot during street driving, especially when going from forward to/from reverse. Annoying but not enough to force me to change back to street pads yet. My shop says they are smaller than OEM hence the shifting.

Yep. I was skeptical about it at first but my performance shop recommended them for my usage and they've been nothing but perfect, both in cold and warm weather

Going to get blue stuff next time just to compare

Given the advice of everyone in this thread, I decided to try EBC blue. I will be getting them installed later this month after finishing out my current set at the track next week.

These are not easy to come by right now, I found the fronts especially are sold out all over.

This is where I got them (they are currently on sale). Ordered my rears from FCP so that I can get them replaced later.

Not sure why you are settling on some hybrid pad. Buy a dedicated track pad and be done with it. Takes 30 minutes to swap them out. You will have so much more confidence and fun with a proper pad.

The EBC blue isn't even much cheaper than something like a DTC-60.

Hi, I am digging this out not to start yet another brake thread.

The car is mainly a street weekend toy but I may track it a few times this year. I also need mega confidence while breaking heavily from 200-250kmh on the highway without any fade nor shakes, numerous times.

I have 4 piston 380mm steel breakes on my F82 and intend to pull the trigger on a following upgrade soon:

1) M2C red 6 piston calipers
2) 400mm Giro discs
3) EBC Bluestuff
4) Motul RBF 700
5) Hel braided lines
6) Rear stock + EBC Bluestuff only.

I guess this will do.

Is there anything better within the same price range and for this purpose?

I have Girodisc on all four corners with Ferodo DS2500 for street and DS1.11 for track. No complaints with either of the two, and have left the DS1.11s on for months with no issues apart from noise.

You're adding quite a lot of weight with the M2C brakes. I have the smaller brakes and they are more than enough with the Giros and pads, IME.

It really does not take long to swap pads either, so consider that - instead of compromising street/track behaviour.
