666m rim protection.

I’ll start off by saying I’m not a bad driver and I don’t think i will kurb my rims but I still want to have the peace of mind that they won’t get kurbed. I was wondering if anyone’s fitted any type of like rim protection to their wheels such as alloygators? Cheers.

I made my own version of the 666 wheels in a two-piece design and i put ppf on the outer edge to protect them from stone chips and such stuff but i suppose that will be hard to do on the stock wheels as the edge is so thin. It is not for curb protection obviously as it's too thin but great for my purpose.

I doubt they’ll provide protection from a large curb hit and they look tacky. Tires with larger built in sidewall rim protectors do a decent job of providing wheel protection. Michelin, except for the PSC category of tires, have larger bead protectors than must other tire manufacturers.

Get wider tires that will balloon enough lol.

Don’t curb it and if you do have it repaired by a wheel guy. Simple as that.

I find super sports give the best rim protection and it was only the nightmare of the euro tunnel being so narrow that caused me to curb a rim for the first time since 2005!

Assuming you have OE PSS tires, the PS4S solve the stretched tire issue VS the PSS. It also makes it look like a Jeep and turning isn't as sharp. But they grip better, fill the wheel well better, are softer over bumps, and they protect the rim more.

Below are the tire specs from Tire Rack for the PS4S* (first image) and PSS* (second image) tires in 285/30-20. All of the tire dimensions are the same except for tread width. The PS4S* is 0.10” wider than the PSS*. Also, the PS4S* weighs 1 lbm more than the PSS*. So how does the PS4S* solve the stretched tire issue and fill the wheel well better? Not sure what making it look like a Jeep even means? I have sets of PS4S* and PSS* tires in the same sizes and the only visible difference is the bead protector is slightly thicker on the PS4S*.

My wife is capable of proving that might not be enough either.

Not sure how you cannot see the difference or how to pursued you into denying data pulled off the internet. But, the PSS are very stretched on the 666M wheels while the PS4S are much more meatier, hence the term Jeep tires.

I guess you missed the part that I have multiple sets of both types of tires in the same sizes and installed on the same width wheels. Again, the only difference is a slight increase in the thickness of the bead protector, no change in diameter and no noticeable difference in tread width. I suppose the smal increase in bead protector thickness would make the tire look less stretched but there’s a performance reason why BMW uses a slightly stretched tire. Tire Rack measurements are made with tires mounted on wheels, not calculated values based on tire sizes, and for the 285/30-20s, a 10” wide wheel was used for both. The revs per mile would be different if there was an increase in diameter of the PS4S*. Furthermore, for the “look like Jeep”, you’d notice a measurable change in effective gearing (taller gearing) and speedometer error.

No, I didn't miss anything you said...
The OE PSS clearly have a tapered inward sidewall and I do not really care what the data suggests that you keep stating. It's very clearly visible versus a same size PS4S tire as you stated, which has a so called thicker rim protector.
So, let's agree to disagree.
Thanks.
