OP thanks again for this - installed my Father's Day present today! Goes nicely with my shifter and surround! Wish I could find the insert for the steering wheel in the same style carbon!

I hate mine. I wish I had the stock leather one. I just like how the leather feels.

If anyone in SOCAL wants this for your stock RED one. I will trade. Your's must be NEW or like new. Mine has 8K on it.

Ah dammit. Now I've gone and ordered one as well. ~$240 from a BMW dealership's eBay store; not bad! I think I had bought the matching MPerf ebrake handle/boot from them too.

These instructions will be quite handy. Thank you OP!

I know this is an old thread - but just wanted to say thanks for the guide. Took me about 15 minutes for both the console and the e-brake boot, out of which 10 was trying to get that fucking spring back on (nightmare...). Other then that, fairly painless and the whole thing can be done with a flathead and a pair of pliers

What do I do!?
I did too. I installed my armrest just a few minutes ago in the dark with a flashlight. The little sprocket is immaterial to the overall operation of the armrest. I wouldn't worry about it. I saved the sprocket in case I get bored and decide to fiddle with it. I couldn't quite see what it was attached to.
I broke the little sprocket also. Was worried it would be an issue but even after months of use, I cannot tell any difference in the way it opens/ closes or slides forwards/ backwards from original. Definitely don't sweat it.
