Billy really cranked out the work this week!
Hopefully ECS gets my Turner diff plate shipped so we can get this buttoned up and engine started.

Hi, interested in upgrading my M4 to enjoy the full potential of my hybrid turbos on E85, I am interested in doing EU5 injectors + Dorch Lift Kit.
I asked a BMW specialist in my region to make me a quote for that job (only for the labour, not the parts) and as he didn't do anything similar for now I sent him the Dorch documentation. They quoted me a 10 hours "minimum" labour (can be increased by them if needed). That seems a bit high to me, anyone who did that could tell me what should be the approximate labour time for that job ? Thanks ! |

I just finished the Dorch lift kit install last weekend. I do all my wrenching and I wouldn't say this is a particularly complicated install but it's still pretty involved so I'd say 10hrs is a minimum, yes. I probably have 15hrs over 2 Saterdays to do both the lift kit and the injectors.

So alittle update.
Finished off the E85 Tune with f80paul Early hours of Saturday morning. Went straight to a 1/2mile event without any testing. Got to the event and the strip was pretty wet from rain. Had 1 run and did 165.3mph with having to peddle it all the way into 5th Gear. I think it will do 170mph in the dry. This is one really solid setup with no complications. Car feels scary fast from 4th gear. It just pulls and pulls without stopping. Big shoutout to f80paul he is a wizard! |

I'm soooooo stoked!
Billy finished my built-motor install yesterday and got the car started for break-in. Hopefully one more week left till she's back in my hands again… Moo-Hoo-Ha-Ha (evil laugh)!!!

Just placed an order for my lift kit and the EU5's finally. Depending on the weather holding out here (and being unseasonably warm) I may go ahead and jump into tuning again or may hold off until the spring.

- When you floor it hard and then go to shift fast you can't get the stick fully down into 2nd gear…the synchros buzz for a quarter to half second as you pull, THEN you can pull down into gear? - If you floor it hard, but take a half second to shift there's no problem… Both of these together show how the MT6 drivetrain gets torqued to the side and the shifter gate goes off alignment, and comes back as the twist eases. The Rogue trans mounts greatly help this problem. The Motul Hi-Torque DCTF also helped help the synchros take the faster shift, or maybe it was just having fresh gear oil.

The drivetrain torque/alignment issue was definitely alleviated with the rogue mounts, but I additionally supplemented it with an AutoSolutions SSK which included upgraded shifter bushings. Prior to swapping to the Spec clutch I could shift pretty quickly between gears, now with it installed I'm finding that it does take a bit longer to enter the shifter gate between 1st-2nd, and 2nd-3rd, but I also haven't had the opportunity to run it up into the higher RPM band in higher gears due to the aforementioned break-in period. Most clutches become a bit easier to work with once they have some miles on them though, so I'll be watching it closely to see if the shifts improve with time. I can tell you that the Motul DCTF did help with the syncro's, and despite the extended gate entering time in low gears right now, I'm liking this one much better than the previous two. Once I'm past break-in it I'll give it some hell to see if high RPM shifting is an issue on this end.

That's interesting - i've had a time or two where 2nd was hard to grab but never any other gears. I've definitely banged 2-3-4 without any problems with my 6MT and the twin-disc. I'm all stock driveline with the exception of the clutch too.
I did feel similarly during the break-in period as you have MJ6 though and it felt almost.. sticky between gears. I was pretty worried it was always going to be like that but it eased up, especially after I sat in slow traffic a few times.

RedLine Oils are quality, so they should help keep the insides running nice and smoothly. The mounts seem to be the primary fix.
