I've never used a loyalty credit before, since my current lease is my first BMW.

So I negotiate a selling price on an M4. Does the loyalty credit then get applied on top of the selling price I negotiated?

I just remember my dealer gave me such a huge discount off MSRP on my 340i they wouldn't apply any of the incentives they were offering because they were already 'included in the discount' they were giving me. Not sure if BMW NA is paying for the loyalty credit or the dealers themselves.

Any dealer can give you the loyalty incentive as is the same with other BMW NA incentives. Thus, incentives should not be a part of your negotiation. The negotiation is all about what the specific dealer can do for you, you can get he incentive anywhere.

It depends, some dealers work with discount + incentives and others are listing the incentives in the discount. When you go and negotiate you should be clear up front and talk price before all available incentives with your dealer. This way there isn't any confusion.

I would almost guarantee your dealer for the 340 actually did give you all the incentives BMW was offering at the time, they just acted like they didn't and made it seem like you got a huge discount. There isn't anything illegal with saying we are giving you 10k off this brand new car, but not mentioning the manufacture is kicking in $8k in incentives, it's a shady move though.

Most incentives don't come out of the dealers pocket, BMW is reimbursing them.

Locked a deal in today, seemed good:

2018 M4 convertible
MSRP: $85,135

Dealer discount: $9000
Lease incentive for 2018 M4: $3000
Loyalty: $1500
Black Friday: $500

Selling price ended up being $71,135.

I put down $2k for no real reason whatsoever, just wanted a payment decently below $1k. The $2k includes first months payment.

Payment will be $932 per month for 36/10k.

I called all over the country and there were a LOT of deals to be had on 2018s, and even 2019s. Dealer discounts were anywhere between $7k for 2019s to $10k for 2018s.

Also: even though I sold my M3 several months ago, I still qualified for Loyalty because i had owned the car within the last 12 months. Many dealers assumed I wouldn't qualify because I didn't currently own a BMW, but that's not the case.

Happy shopping everyone!

I'm happy with it. That particular dealer originally said they were holding firm at $8k discount, $2k incentive and no loyalty, but i had a few other strong offers from dealers that they wound up coming around. Great people to deal with overall, as were all of the others i talked to. And all very eager to get a deal done no matter what.

Nice discount but still a high payment. I guess that is the result of the lower residuals and higher interest rates.

I'm looking at getting an M4 and got them down to 77k from an MSRP of 81,185. I'm planning to drive the car for 3 years and get a new one so was planning to lease. Unfortunately, the leasing incentives right now are complete crap compared to financing and they quoted me at a monthly payment of ~1.3k which I rejected.

They then offered me a rate of 1K per month through the BMW select program with a balloon of about 27k at the end. I've searched all over to see if there's a consensus for whether or not this is a good idea for someone planning to trade their car in after 3 years and haven't found an answer. Compared to financing I think it's clear that I would end up paying more interest on it so probably not a great idea, but compared to a lease??? I still am not sure.

My understanding is that after 3 years I can sell the car and essentially would not owe any extra money because the dealer will be buying up the remainder of what I owe on the car and I can put it into the new car. This almost seems like too good of a deal to be true and I feel that I must be totally missing something here.

I know I sound stupid here but does anyone have any thoughts on this?

^^ I honestly dont even think that is a good price, dropping down from $81 to $77k? I feel you can do way much better than that. With inventory hanging around, cars that needs to be move for the end of the year, etc... you must do more shopping and negotiation.

$10-12k off MSRP is what I would be aiming for.

Balloon payment, I strongly suggest not doing that. I feel if you need to do BP to get into a M, maybe you cant really afford it at the first place.

Stick to financing or lease.

Thanks for the response. That's what I was wondering regarding the price that I negotiated for, seemed a bit higher than I should have expected even with it being a 2019. I'll keep looking around and will be aiming for a lease.

I think it will still be a hard sell at today's residual because of its M5 MSRP.
absolutely agree, i was stoked about the M4 CS when it was revealed and i even had a deposit on it, but the pricing is just ridiculous.

Over 930 new M3s still sitting on lots and soon to be 2019. You would think they would want to move them.

We will see...
This week marks the 1yr anniversary since picking up my '18 Tanzanite M3 ZCP, and I'm getting the itch...I haven't kept a car this long in a while!!
However, I doubt there will be drastic reduction in MF and/or significant increase with incentives.
