Sidewall strength on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
I got a new set of Pilot Sport 4S on all four corners about a month ago. They replaced an identical set and have been very happy with them.
Yesterday, I got in the car and didn't notice the passenger rear tire was completely flat. I turned on the car, and drove away. After about 30 seconds, the tire pressure sensor went off, but I had driven about 100 yards. I got out and noticed it was flat. I slowly drove it back up my driveway and took out the tire and plugged it. The sidewall was clearly scuffed, in much the same way it would be when rubbing against a sidewalk, but there were no visible punctures or gouges. My question is regarding sidewall strength. What are the chances it would be damaged? I'd hate to have a blowout and cause more damage. Just need a little assurance here.

Based on the distance driven with a flat rear tire, I think you’ll be fine running that tire once its pressure has been reset. As for the sidewall, I’ve found the MPS4S sidewall to be too soft so I run pressures 4 psi higher than I would with a MPSS tire. I’m currently running the MPS4S on our e92 M3, f22 m240ix and g20 330ix. It’s a great tire if you run higher pressures to help stiffen the soft sidewall.
