F83 convertible vs E93 convertible

Objective: to have a 6 speed manual ///M car with a hard top folding convertible roof so I can take the car on long drives and road trips, use it as a convertible when I feel like but enjoy it like a "regular" refined and quiet car with regular car sight lines and blind spots. I've never found a cloth top that does this, and my current cloth top Z4M is too claustrophobic and raw to drive with the top up for anything other than emergency rain protection. While I love it dearly and will likely ask to be buried in it when I go, at the end of the day its a toy and not a serious road trip / long distance driver / commuter.

What I own currently:

Z4M Roadster 6 speed
E90 M3 sedan 6 speed
991.1 Carrera 4S coupe 7 speed
128i sport package 6 speed (sold to make room for this purchase!)

Got the opportunity to spend a week with my first F series M3/4; an F83 6 speed. Holy mother of Chr*st is this thing fast and capable. Took me a while to figure out how to use the throttle to extract maximum power in an N/A linear like fashion but not get the sledgehammer turbo engagement of torque when you don't want it.

Car is objectively better at everything than my E90: better shifter/clutch, better chassis (though stiff and less comfortable, including seat cushioning), more powerful engine by far.

Of course the exhaust sound leaves something to be desired (removing active sound helped A LOT) and is a big con. But the biggest problem I face despite what is an incredible package is that the car is just too fast and you can't rev it up; have to short shift all the time to avoid breaking the speed limits too much. Not a fan of wide open throttle back end squirms on turns either (DSC would never come off on this thing for me).

While its so capable for passing and keeping up I'm just thinking its way too much car for me, and I'm more into cars you can flog on city streets and highways and not be too deep over the speed limit.

I thought about seeing if this could be de-tuned, but I'm thinking I'm better off starting with an E93 chassis and "building it up" to come close to chassis/engine performance, maybe starting with a BPM tune then trying a supercharger, some suspension mods, and I'd be happier. What do you guys think?

Note the E90 is to remain untouched as I think its perfect as a daily driver. I only think of modding the E93 because I hear its heavier and chassis compromised (two things I did NOT feel the F83 were out of the box). It would be the fun car where the E90 sedan is more the day to day business car.

Love to hear everyone's thoughts.
