M4 2017 - ticking sound on cold and warm start up

My 2017 M4 competition, is fully stock and has been for all its life as far as I know, with frequent oil changes.
Bought the car at 68,000 KM and its now 83,000 KM.

I noticed that my car sometimes has the S55 ticking/rattling sound on cold start, which goes away when warmed up. I then also started noticing that if I turn on the car with a warm startup (not a complete cold start), it will also have a ticking sound that eventually goes away, after few mins of driving. Is this something to be concerned about?

Only happens on startup, and not every single start up which is weird.
Any ideas?

Previous owner replaced all the below at the 56,000 KM mark:
- Turbos
- Spark Plugs
- Valve cover gasket
- Timing chain + chain tensioner
- DCT oil
- DCT oil pan
- engine oil sump gasket

I dont have a video or sound clip but its exactly the same tapping metal sound as others have talked about regarding S55 cold start ticking/tapping sound.
The difference is mine also happens on warm start and not every single time.

If you can upload a vid that’d help. Try getting one if you can.

Had it on mine when delivered from dealership. Circa 18-20k miles. Turned out to be very common and was the exhaust cams which need to be re-torqued.
Warranty job for me under the Approved used sale.
Came back silent and still is 3 years and 5000miles later.

did the mechanics say there is any risk of not retorquing the exhaust cam bolts and just leaving the car as it is?

I heard of people getting the sound come back after retorquing.

I never asked to be fair. With the luxury of a warranty it was a Simple request for a Fix for me
Primarily I wanted the noise gone. Albeit it disappeared when warmed up I still found it a bit annoying as I had only just purchased the car.

I can certainly ask and reply over the next few days as I do know them well.

As much as I love the F83 as a package, the S55 engine just dosent give me the confidence I get from my B58 and S58 cars.
Torque is a tad different but still excellent as is the overall power delivery.
Exhaust tone not too impressive but moreso reports of engine noise issues and common oil leaks.
Fingers crossed 🤞 as mine is rarely used and still relatively low miles at 24k.
