Vtt crankhub tips

Hello, I am planning on diying the vtt crankhub v2 full kit with cbc. I have watched and read many guides. Other than that does anyone have tips or pointers from when they did it so that maybe I can have a smoother install. Thanks

Buy the tools. Mostly just take your time.

I would budget a few days. If you crank it out starting on a friday after work you should have it done by Sunday assuming there are no hickups. I took a few weeks working an hour at a time after the kids went to bed. I also did a lift kit at the same time so a bit more work.

I got hung up a bit on simple shit where a access cover didnt go in straight and I bent it trying to get it back out and the delay on getting a new one.

thing that will slow you down the most is if you drop anything into the oil pan. I suggest stuffing some shop rags underneath the hub when you are working on the oil pump sprocket and trying to get the tab in.

As for locking the flywheel, did you just use the pin that comes with the camshaft locking tool or did you buy the whole flywheel locking tool that bolts on underneath. I have seen some people that have had the pin bend on them but then again all the shops that do diy on yt seem to ONLY use the pin. What did you use?

I used both the pin and the locking tool. I got most of my tools on Amazon.

Edit - See you're going full CBC - what I wrote doesn't fully apply.

I have a feeling that some that had issues with these either didn't torque at all and either used no thread seal (or the wrong type).
Do you mean for the crankhub capture plate ?

Was referencing the capture plate - but looks like you're planning to do both?

Yes; as per vtt they recommend to do both and I got the whole kit on Bimmerworld for 800 and it comes with a lot of extra oem parts like the oil sprocket and retainer so I went for that
