Blue smoke & burnt plastic smell
Hi,
BMW M3 F80 2017 I’ve been noticing blue smoke from my exhaust and burnt plastic smell. I checked the charge cooler, there’s oil inside the charge pipes. I checked underneath the engine, there’s a bit of oil just underneath the turbo. However, there is no oil on the actual under tray. The smoke increases when I accelerate. When I accelerate hard, a trail of smoke comes out and it starts smoking lots more when I’m at a standstill (All of it is blue smoke). The car does not seem like it has lost any power when WOT (Wide Open Throttle). My oil consumption seems to be fine (I think). Had a service done 17 April. Got asked to top 1 litre oil 31st May. I’ve done around 900 miles since then, bunch of M way trips. Haven’t had the need to top up oil. Measured the oil today, it’s just above the min line. This seems to be signs that my turbo seals are gone if I’m correct? However, I’m wondering since I haven’t got loss of power and my oil consumption is not high (I think), could there be another reason oil is getting inside the charge cooler besides the turbo? Thanks.
