Is your schedule still 12/12?
Thankfully the 12/12’s are over, but we’re still doing 12-hour deployments to Palisades and Alta Dena on a shift-by-shift basis. We deployed units the other night due to mudslides. It never ends!

Two places I can point to.

First is https://myautocraft.com/ My chiro, is also a hard car person ( mzcp know) and I was going to use them to fix the problems BH caused but didn't end up doing so. My chiropractor has a E30 M3 sitting in his parking lot that needs some loving lol.

Second is https://candccollision.com/ in Alhambra. I was going to use C&C.

I do not know their pricing though, that you would need to ask. I also found out after my car came back, BH also managed to bottom/damage my rear diffuser some how. There are some damage to my leather on my buckets I cannot fix either, some OEM and body shop paint problems but... it is what it is. My car is back and... I am okay.

Why did they release the brake and drop it into reverse at the end???? Literally could have just ended it after the spin and carried on with his drive.

i dont think he went into reverse. Momentum carried him backwards. DCT cars will slip to neutral during a spin to protect the engine/tranny i believe. There have been other posts about guys on track having this happen to them during a spinout.

driver probably also freaked out and took his foot off the brake

You’re as well up-to-date in matters of paint as anybody.

Appreciate it friend. I’ll call.
My father has typically handled body shop/paint work on my behalf, but I’m getting older of age and realize he deals with [very] low-quality shops. I’d rather engage with a good quality provider or not at all.

C&C, ask for Rett. That is who I spoke to and he also helped me out in the past.

Autocraft, I never spoke with the owner of the place who I was going to but he also knows my situation w/ my 4RS while it was going on. All I remember is the owner is Taiwanese lol.

Yeah I was mostly being sarcastic about the reverse thing. But interesting to know about the reverse thing on the DCT. I guess that makes sense.

I’ll do my best to explain why that guy didn’t hit the brake, nearly happened to me about 30 years ago. I was 17-18 at the time with an MR Turbo which is a notoriously tail happy car. I was cutoff on the highway while doing around 70mph and swerved away too quickly. The car almost immediately started spinning. I was able to stop the spinning by sheer luck/Gods hand, but the car was facing backwards as I continued to go forward. I can still see the total look of shock on the drivers face behind me as we were essentially facing each other. It took me a couple seconds to process in my brain what had happened. From initial panic of a big collision, to rolling backwards, to finally clearing my mind to hit the brakes. I remember this experience vividly because it was like a voice went off in my brain to say “hit the brakes!”. Totally froze for a couple seconds.

I had the time, but this guy didn’t. I bet he was so in shock thinking he was going to crash, then didn’t, that his mind didn’t have time to reset to hit the brakes. It’s like tensing up when you’re about to be in a collision. You should be taking that small amount of time to work on avoidance, but the vast majority of people will tense up and anticipate the hit. I think the only way you can change this is much track experience and putting yourself in those situations over and over again on a track.

I remember messing with this at the South Carolina BMW PDS. This would happen and under very specific circumstances we could get them to stall to. Was a lot of fun and we weren’t driving into crowds. It’s unfortunate used F8Xs are the new Mustangs.

I remember one winter a lady did this exact thing in front of me (for different reasons). She was going way too fast in the left lane during a snow storm and we were crawling at 5MPH on the freeway. I saw her coming and got ready for her to hit somebody or me. She jammed on the brakes and did a 180, slid across 5 lanes of traffic up a bridge embankment and came to stop without hitting anyone. I couldn’t believe her luck and everyone else’s that afternoon. As you said, I still vividly remember her look of sheer terror and death grip on the steering wheel as we looked at each other through our windshields as she slid right in front of me. In hindsight, knowing everyone was ok, it was pretty damn cool to watch! She definitely learned a huge lesson that day.

Right, it’s definitely something you won’t forget! It was really cool in my case, lots of tire smoke and though it was sheer luck, it probably looked to others like I knew what I was doing. Some middle aged guy passed me a bit later with a huge grin and thumbs up hah.

I don't remember this happening during my accident with the PDK-S. I only had some initial trouble getting back into gear after parking but apparently nothing was wrong.

I’m not surprised you don’t remember. I’m sure you were shocked that you had gotten hit and weren’t even thinking about what your transmission was doing.

That was the nice thing about the BMW driving school. I was already very familiar with the car and they had a couple exercises that really let you have some freedom to mess around. The wet/water figure eight and of course the drift circle.

I really liked my test drives in mine. One of my major problems with the SQ5/Audis in general though is the AWD system is FWD based compared to xDrive. I’ll give BMW that, xDrive is by far my favorite AWD system because it is so RWD biased.

The only reason why I have any idea what I believed happened to me during that night is mainly from Sedan_Clan and the damage to my car after. Everything is pieced together from that, I only have a few flashes of images of that night still. You know those old toys that you use for images? Like binoculars w/ pictures (I don't know what to call it). That is how most of my memory of that night is.

The CHP report is wrong about how I was hit but I chalked that up as due to my concussion, I didn't describe things correctly. Guess I could have called in to have it corrected but... I didn't think of it.

I'm still looking at Miata's and was directed also to South Bay. I'm disappointed none of these 2024's that are still around are in Soul Crystal Red, all of them are Aero Grey darn it.

What do you feel was wrong about the CHP report? Generally I/we can look at the vehicles involved and the skid marks, and determine how an accident occurred. You were on the freeway traveling south; you were side swiped.
