Third Party Extended Warranty Options (2021)
Hi,
Has anyone recently purchased a third party extended warranty program for their BMW M3/M4? I did a search and it seems information on extended warranty is dated even just from last year or so. I am finding out a lot of third party companies don't cover BMW M3/M4. I checked Carchex and M3/M4 is not a model they support. Only the normal 3 and 4 series. I checked Endurance and they do not seem to have M3/M4 on the drop down on vehicle models. Warranty Direct does not cover BMWs at all (anymore if they ever did). I called my own insurance, Mercury, for the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance and they also do not have a protection plan for BMW M4. My car does not qualify for Geico MBI since I exceeded the mileage. Does anyone else have any recommendation besides going to the dealership? Costco and AAA used to have an extended warranty but it's gone now too.

Fidelity & EasyCare are solid.
Got mine through CarMax and bought their warranty which is known to be the best out of the aftermarket options. Car is for sale and the warranty is transferable (covered until 2025/100k mi) in case anyone is interested. The catch with CarMax though is that you can only buy the warranty if you got the car through them and they generally sell their cars over market value. |

![]() At this rate, I think Fidelity or BMW Extended Warranty is the only option. I agree that Carmax warranty is great if you bought a used M4. As Doug says "Bumper to Bumper". ![]()

I would go with BMW coverage save the headache & trouble and can cover up to 84 months.

I worked their part-time; as a car guy it was fun! They scrutinize every car that is a retail sale. They use a paint measure machine to see if car was painted. They check to see if panel bolts were turned. The people who inspect the cars go through extensive training. If they can't fix a newer car like an M3 they will send to a BMW dealer. You get 5 days to return a car for any reason. They use statistics and metrics to value a car. I've seen some cars value higher than Kelly Blue Book because they see how the car sells. Adversely if you have a high mileage old Range Rover you're not getting much. |

Question about Fidelity (or any extended warranty really). I inquired about my recently acquired M3 and no problem to extend but I’ve got another year of factory warranty on my 2018 followed by a year of CPO coverage. When should I be looking for an additional warranty, as I approach the end of the CPO? Seems like I’m wasting money to add anything right now...

How did you contact Fidelity? Did you have to go through a dealer to get a quote?

CNA is what we used at my old BMW dealer and the service advisors never complained about getting something covered. I have had similar experiences with them at Porsche too.

I haven't heard of this company before but it's offered by Steve Thomas BMW.

Just got Fidelity Platinum through Troy of Toyota Greenfield, based on the threads here and the recommendations. Compared with various places, if you're under 25K miles his prices are really competitive.
