Totaled?
Hey fellow F82 owners. Unfortunately, I got into an accident the other day (hit a wall on the highway at about 60mph) and it seems like the tire took most of the impact. I’m waiting to hear back from insurance but I wanted y’all’s opinion. Do you believe it will get totaled?

Until your insurance/adjuster can verify the damage we can only guess. However, the back wheel being completely misaligned leads me to believe there’s significant damage to the subframe or other suspension components that would most likely total this out.
Either way, I wouldn’t want a car back after that level of damage to core components.

I agree with the above post. At first glance, it looks like it’s contained to the right quarter panel, wheel and suspension but, upon further inspection, you notice the rear wheel is noticeably cambered out and toed-in. Both suggest there could be front & rear subframe damage as well as chassis damage. Best thing is it sounds like you didn’t sustain any injuries which is the most important thing. I’ve been in two accidents (sitting stationary both times) and they’ve lead to 10 spine surgeries.

Exactly, I loved that car however after the amount of damage it sustained part of me is hoping that they will total it out just due to the amount of damage it sustained.

It usually does and part of me is hoping they will total it since I wouldn’t want a car that has sustained that amount of damage back.

Like others have already mentioned, no one can tell you the extent of the damage from your pictures until your adjuster has evaluated the car. We can see that there is certainly bumper, headlight, fender and suspension damage front and rear.
What we can't see is subframe, even the rear differential is damaged due to the hit in the rear. I can tell you the BMW M parts are not cheap when it comes to repairing a damaged vehicle. Remember that the insurance companies apply the 70% rule, meaning if the total cost of repairs adds up to be 70% of what the vehicle is currently worth, they will in most cases total it out. So, if your vehicle is worth say $42,000 but the repairs will be $30,000 it will be a write off. I would start looking around for a replacement, just in case.
