Track areas in MA/NH/ME Area?
Hi everyone.
I am new to the "driving" side of owning an f80. I have never tracked mine, or any car. I was wondering if anyone has any overall advice/worries going into it. On the other hand, I am cautious and treat mine like a baby. Honest question: will this ruin the car (hurt value). Last question: located in mass but curious if any new england owners know of good spots! Thanks everyone, |

It won't ruin your car and you will have awesome experience. You are likely to get more rock chips and other damage from highway driving than track days if you follow a good instruction. Join the BMW Boston CCA. I do the NH Motorspeedway and Palmer Motorsport Park events.

Thanks for the answer, appreciate it. Car is fully wrapped in PPF so hopefully that is helping but its not bulletproof.
Stupid questions but gotta ask. I think I am going to just do it. Have played plenty of forza on xbox lol. |

Definitely do it.
My reco is to become a member of BMWCCA and PCA, they have good instruction programs to help you learn. Like other things in life, 'practice does not make perfect, instead, 'perfect practice makes perfect'. In MA you have Palmer, a fun track, you also have NHMS in NH, and Limerock in CT is also not that far. Tamsworth is also up there I think. Also, don't focus on modding the car. Power is irrelevant while you learn. You will soon need camber plates to not destroy your tires and track brake pads. In terms of resale, these cars hold up fine to the racetrack, I wouldn't be too worried. |

Okay thanks for the reply.
Car is modded with all aesthetics, no motor tuning. Curious if I start pushing car on track, should I be worried about crank hub? I am assuming (and hoping) no since car is engine wise stock. |

If the car is stock, I would not worry. We tracked our CS with slicks etc for years, stock engine, no problems.
Our m4 gt4 comes from the factory with the regular crankhub and it spends its life racing. You don't see them fail there. Everyone wants to convince themselves that the crank hub is a BMW problem etc etc, but you read up on failures and it's highly correlated to giant torque spikes of 550ftlb at 3.5k rpm due to tuning |
