Wet track day tomorrow: give me some homework
Looks like a washout at NJMP TBolt tomorrow with PCA, but gotta use it or lose it. I've been pretty lucky and haven't had a wet track day in a while.
Other than working on being smooth, any particular "exercises" you guys do in the wet? Will be on my street Conti ECS2 tires. Obviously trying to run the "wet" line, though TBolt was just re-paved, so not sure it's rubbered-in enough at this point to create a distinctive wet vs dry line, we'll see... |

above all, keep your straight line speeds *way* down.
in slow turns, you can try your luck at Tokyo Drift |

Braking smooth is important in the wet. Try to be aware and start braking it earlier than normal, till you feel comfortable. Dont be afraid to run MDM too. I run traction off nearly every event but there is no harm in MDM for the rare occasion. Sometimes I do it in rain. Sometimes I dont. Track and day dependent.

Start with reducing LSC by 4-6 clicks and HSC by reducing 2-4 clicks. Adjust R by reducing 2-4 clicks. Reduce reservoir pressures to 100 psi (maybe 80 psi if there’s standing water). Reduce LSC another 2-3 clicks if the car doesn’t want to initially turn-in. Reduce HSC another 2-3 clicks if braking instability and/or mid-corner bumps upset stability and/or corner exit curbs/bumps upset the car.
Go another round of LSC and R if still searching for turn-in or brake/bump instability. Overall, be patient with the throttle and wait longer (straighter) before applying power. Use the string is attached to 3 or 9 o’clock position on the steering wheel and attached to the throttle pedal technique. |

All good tips, basically all on my to-do list. Have the car currently set to BW's recommended rain baseline for the MCS (Front: LS4, HS3, R6. Rear: LS2, HS2, R4)
Thanks gents |

1/2 a car width off the line in the turns is where the grip is. Squaring the turns off by going over the line and back is key. If you have an instructor they should help you figure that out. It sounds as if you have never tracked in the wet then I would use all the nannies all day. Tire pressures will not grow much so don't worry about but pressures should be 2-3psi lower than normal street.

Well, mother nature had different plans -- cloudy & windy, but dry as a bone on arrival! Got 2.5 dry sessions in, then started raining. Gave me opportunity to try my Pirelli DH takeoffs for first time, but packed it in when it started raining. Could've ran on the Contis in the rain, but was feeling spoiled and wanted to get home. Next time...
