LG!R GTMore Build!

I missed out buying the GTMore (couldn’t sell my Pcar fast enough) and my buddy Lee G bought it and will be competing in my region so, guess we are building another one?

Here we go!

Already have tons of parts on order from Phil@BimmerWorld

Car will get a bunch of stuff this week and participate with SCCA at Summit Point coming weekend on Shenandoah, so we need all the camber!

First week mods;
Ta8s Wheels spec’d by BW
Conti ECF 295/315
Camber Plates by Vorshlag
SPL Front Lower Control Arms
SPL Rear Toe Arms with eccentric lockout
Hawk DTC
Girodisc Fronts
Brake Fluid
Plugs and Coils
Tune?

I think that’s a good first week

Phil is the best!

I also have one built out of a M4 GTS, what a great setup! Still civil enough to be driven to the track, last year we went to Road America (1k miles per way) and it was just fine.

Unless BW has released the TA8S in an 11-11.5” wide version, you can’t run a 315 on a 10.5et36 wheel (need a 15-20 mm-thick spacer to run a 295 on the front, spacer size depends on the struts and springs you’re running). Ideally, you’d want an 11.5et47 to run a 315 tire. I have 11et42-44 with a 305 tire (street and track setups, et37 is the most aggressive you can go without rubbing with a 305). I’d definitely step up to an 11.5 if I wanted to run a 315 tire. Running an excessively wide tire on a narrow rim reduces grip. Here’s one test performed by GRM about wheel width vs. tire width.

Goal is 315sq. May have to adjust my sizing for next week 8/17-18 event though, that’s ok!

can't speak to the Hawks, but the RSL29s I wouldn't run even if they were free. It's like having a block of wood instead of a brake pedal, zero feel. I've tried them back to back with PFC, never again.

I'd like to fit a 11.5 or 12" wheel as well, but the cars came from the factory with 11" and the Michelin 305/68 is insanely wide, easily as wide as the 310 Hoosier (full slick) or the 315 R7/A7.
If we put the 310 Hoosier on a 12" wheel, there's no way it wouldn't rip up the liners worse than it already is, so I guess this is one place where I'm not maximizing the tire's contact patch due to running a wheel that is a bit too narrow for my tastes.
Meanwhile, a 275 on a 10.5" wheel looks great!

If memory serves me right, the TA5R and the TEAL16 are both available in 11", but nothing wider. You can have custom ones made of course, but bring your wallet.

11.5” and 12” with offsets of 46-49 will fit 315 and 325 street tires, respectively. A 315 on an 11” doesn’t provide sufficient tire support which agrees with your statement “…maximizing the tire's contact patch due to running a wheel that is a bit too narrow for my tastes.”. I’ll never run a street tire wider than 305 on a 11” wide wheel. OP BW wheel has a max 10.5” wide wheel. I would not run 305, and definitely not a 315, on a 10.5” wide wheel. Michelin 305/68 has a very different stiff sidewall design so it can get away with a narrower wheel with minimal impact on tire width (won’t pinch the same as a street tire).

I didn't see it mentions in your parts list, but are you installing the GTMORE MCS / BW suspension? This is the only practical way to get a 18x11 ET30 or 18x11 ET36 wheel along with 315/30R18 tires to fit properly (and you will still need a large spacer to get the correct wheel position).

BW was pretty detailed in their YT video about this (I assume you have seen this).

Good luck with the build. I'll be following along.

Yes , after the sep 13-15 event with BMW NCC, the car is rented that weekend, so we will do the full Bimmerworld GTMore setup after that event for Oct events.

I just tried to put a 295/30/20 on a 20x11et30 and they rubbed unless I raised the rear up an inch. I haven't measured the fender to floor yet but it looks like the GTMore stance in the video.

the full kit including wheels has the spacers. can also get 32mm spacers to fit 18*11 et 25 wheels in the front for non rotatable square. 315's are meaty and look great on the f8x! The amount of grip is nuts.

20x11et30 is overly aggressive for the rear. Typical range is 20x11et37-44. I believe the rear should be 295/25 for 20” diameter wheels. I run 19x11et42 with 305/30 with no issues through the full range of bump and droop travel.
