What I understand, the larger rear windshield just about evens out the CG despite the M3 being slightly taller (56.1 vs 54.4). Custom seats means lower rails but more headroom for taller drivers and their helmets as well. I'm not the OP but I've always liked the idea of a sporty 4 door sedan on the track. It's like racing Volvo Wagons: they don't look like they belong, but they do.

Beautifully done but I'll never understand why people cage a 4 door when there is a 2 door option.

2018 F80 Track Build
Sorry, I don't know the paint code. My body shop guy is a wiz and came up with the color. He assures me it's the Ferrari orange. He used it on the hood vents, calipers and M badges. Painted over the BMW red.

2018 F80 Track Build
I wanted to keep the M buttons and paddle shifters. In order to purchase an aftermarket solution, it's another $1600-$2000. I need a HANS devise more than a quick release wheel.
"I do not understand why the exhaust is pointed downwards. I saw this on a porsche race car as well. Is it track regulation? Would anyone care to comment please to explain.
"
It is most likely turned down to reduce and be able to pass track sound limits. Several tracks have specific decibel limits for events and turn down tips are an easy way to shave off a couple decibels, by directing the sound down and away from the monitoring stations on track. It's also popular on many street cars for people to have exchangeable turn down tips that they bolt on for a track event then remove when they go home. I'm just assuming though at the OPs intentions by the looks of his all track focused build. For the Porsche you saw this is 100% the reason. I spend a lot of time on Rennlist and those P-car guys have a ton of methods to pass sound tests. |
