Rollinguyf80 street/track build
Hi guys, starting this thread to capture my journey on a new build. There was a F80 in the spec I wanted for sale locally so I jumped on it. My previous build was a street / track s2000. I have the same goals for this new build
If you want to follow the build on IG @Rollinguyf80 Here's pictures of my new 2016 F80 And my previous s2000 build Last edited by Jlaflo; 04-16-2023 at 09:43 AM.. |

As of 10/11/2022 i installed
-VRSF charge pipes -Crank bolt capture VTT -Red line diff fluid, OEM manual fluid, and Castrol 0w40 engine oil -CONVERSION STUD 14×1.25-14×1.5* 78mm Black Bullet Nose Stud Kit -PFC 11 brake pads -Titan 7 18x10.5 +25, Falken rt660 275/35/18 square -Did a mhd staged 1 tune to see what all the hype is about but may take it off for the track lol, way too much torque and I want to learn the car properly. -Eibach pro lowering springs, Ground control camber plates. During all of this found out I have a massive valve cover leak near the passenger side which sucks was hoping not to have any crazy maintenance to do but here's the first one I noticed. Have an alignment set up for this upcoming Monday. Shooting for a more track orientated alignment for a squared set up. Any tips would greatly be appreciated! |

Not sure what’s the go too range for negative camber in the rear if your tracking tho. Last edited by Jlaflo; 10-15-2022 at 06:07 PM.. |

Gorgeous.
What's your expectation on # of track days in a season? We just finished our last track day of the season here, so it's time to start working on what mods to install this winter. Great thread.

Probably 1 track day every month more or less. Already signed up for a night event at Sebring Dec 10th. Just making sure the car is ready before then. |

That's the big question. I love my S2k, It doesn't have much power but the car is faster then most cars with double + power then me, and a very exhilarating car to drive. If I don't fall in love with this chassis within 3-4 events, I'm going to stop modding it.

You will. The S2K is an incredible track car especially when it comes to weight but the F8x chassis is outrageous and miles ahead in terms of stiffness.

Great taste man, love the white-on-white look! At some point, I wanted to pick up some white TEs but now see Titan7 offers those in white for the F80, I think before it was only for their JDM applications. Looks good. I run the same specs and you can fit a 295/30 square, there are quite a few running aggressive offset and a wide tire. I'm on 275/35 and have tons of room, even threw a spacer F/R. I will probably go to 285/35 or 295/30 next. Most F8x guys are very conservative on fitment
I came from a lighter roadster also, I had an ND before. I miss the lightweight steering feel and slow car fast type of fun. The F80 is a different beast, heavier but albeit more capable and a different tier of car. In the same way your S2000 can compete with cars with double the power, the F80 is enough car to compete with anything out there. Look forward to your impressions! What you will probably find is the F80 is pretty easy to drive IMO, with the right setup it communicates well. Not sure if MHD does it cause I'm on BM3, but see if there's a boost-by-gear option to remove that power spike. Makes the car way easier to drive. Also if you find the steering feel lacking, look into getting the GTS steering coded in, was a huge improvement for me! Enjoy!!

And I wanted to run 295/35 but I couldn’t find much Information on this to make it work. Now I know it will work with a little massaging. My s2k is running the most aggressive setup I could run. I did noticed most bmw guys are conservative with their wheel specs lol or maybe the guys running really aggressive setups don’t post much |

The Assist M4 runs an 18x11 square with 295/35. They do have front lower control arms to play with track width, but we should have extra room with 18x10.5 instead. The rear will be tight but camber and/or pull the fender a tad for some extra clearance and boom. I will try to explore this more when my 275s wear and if I can find some setups locally to play with before I commit! Also aside from the Assist M4, I also love the sunbeam F80. They run 18x10.5 RIA and a 295/35 A052 up front. Clearance looks good:
