M3 = Coupe... from the start M3 was a coupe... change the M4 to the Sedan.

exactly...let's keep M3 as it is and make an M2, I don't want to lose the M3 name just to keep us from saying M1!

Did you guys read that thread about the F80 M3? I don't like that there going to be changing the name to M4? M's are supposed to be unique. No doubt they will still be fantastic cars. The M3 has heritage and a history in the motorsport world. It would be like suddenly renaming future model corvettes to something else. Anyone else agree or am I just being weird?

the other advantage is to piss of all the BMW marketing people when you screw up their dumb ass idea to start messing with the names heck why call it a BMW at all? why not change that as well? just call it LOL! so you spend 20 years getting one of the finest name badges of any manufacturer, the envy of many other car makers then you proceed to run it to the ground good job bmw

Very happy about the news for an M3 sedan.
Still feel M4 sounds weird. But you know what - what can they do? All the 3 series coupes will be 4 series coupes, and it would be weird for the M3 to represent both sedans and coupes. Not for us, the enthusiasts who know the history, etc. But are most BMW buyers gonna care? They'll just think higher number = more expensive. I won't like it. But if it drives great, I'll get over it.

LoL m4? Why the hell would you do that to the m3 legacy and brand name? Your better off calling the the m3.5, just so there is still a 3 in there.

easy, replace it with a M3 badge yourself..
yeah, I don't like it too, imagine seeing "M4"s on the race tracks racing with 911s in the future, how lame will that be?? Think about this scenario: When asked, which car won the 24hrs Le Mans race 2013? Answer, it was an M4.. Bottom line is, this "M4" is none the less still a rumor. I hope it is not true. See, I don't mind seeing BMW 4 series. I just have a problem with seeing a car with an M4 badge. |
