How many have tracked their cars after OBD tune?

I had some serious issues today at the track (AutoClub) and I had (I won't say the name) OBD tune installed Friday. I was at 147 mph approaching turn 2 when it happened and tomorrow I'll find out what failed.
Are these "new OBD tunes" actually tested flat out at the track or are these tunes for "Ricky Racers" that just do a few pulls?
Sorry if I sound pissed but at those kind of speeds it bullsh*t to find out there's issues!
What gets me the most is that I paid more to go with a super reputable tuner...

I know this may sound counter intuitive, but if you want to aggressively track the car - remain stock. Tunes put the car to close to the limit for component failure. It's the reason the M3 competition was released with the power output it has. For longevity of components across a range of conditions.

If you tune and track regular and hard - the risk of failure is much higher

I've been tracking at ACS completely stock, JB4 and now OBD tuned. I've never had issues until today.

Did one of your charge pipes crack? I replaced mine with aftermarket ones for this very reason.

Not aware of any tuners that sponsor race teams (where they'd get good race data) or do road races. Sure No Fly Zone, Dyno's and 1/4 mile but that seems to be the extent but then this is standard accross many automotive platforms.

Sounds like you had a JB4 and then took it out and got an over the counter OBD2 flash tune.

Did you find out what happened? Was it the Charge Pipes? (oh someone else asked just before I hit save)

What codes did you throw? Any smoke and/or oil, coolant leaking? 6MT or DCT? Does the car run? Does it even start? You're not being very descriptive about what happened. Further, I think you can answer the question yourself as to how much testing and data has been collected from the track.

Disregard my DM, as what your describing doesn't sound Charge Pipe related.

It would be helpful to tell us which tune for safety purposes once you find out the source of the issue.

Please share CEL codes with us

Doesn’t have to be tune related imo. Until you are able to figure the mechanical issue, it’s premature to assume it is the tuner’s fault. Hopefully you can get to the root of this quickly.

I'll share once everything is confirmed. I want to make sure and that nothing is said that isn't completely correct. I drop off the car first thing tomorrow morning and should have some info by the evening.

Yup, that's why I'm being extremely careful not to name until everything is confirmed. I just find it extremely ironic that it happened 48 hours after the tune was installed.

Would also help to know if it was the OEM CS type maps or stage 1 etc from a tuner.

48 hrs after install? How much did you drive the car before your track day? One (of the many) variables that could have contributed to your issue is that your car did not have enough time to adapt to the new tune. The computers in these cars are good when it comes to adapting to the driving conditions and have multiple safety features to keep the engine safe under harsh conditions - but of course they still need some time to adapt to operate at maximum efficiency, to include providing maximum protection for the motor.

I am not saying that lack of time to adapt to the new tune is the "silver bullet" that caused your problem. And it makes sense that you want to get more data before coming to any hasty conclusions.
