Short answer is, he's not Trump; longer answer is due to how management and administration works and the fact that, in professional management, there are no savior candidates, only savior process ... which is also super boring and nobody wants to hear about process.

For example, Ed Deming was a genius level manager who saved industries but the key is not to hire Deming, it's to just implement his process. BOOORRIINNGGGG.

A good candidate is typically a great salesperson, but a shit manager and administrator so they need to hire a great team to do it - AND LISTEN TO THEM. Biden is simply openly saying this: I"m the candidate, but i'm going to build an awesome management team from the next-gen.

(you might remember that the only reason we know who is Elizabeth Warren is, is because of how she managed the 2008 bailout)

The best president is someone with lots of experience administrating - Biden has that, having helped turn the Great Recession into the longest bull market in history, so that's a pretty good indication of his ability to hire the right administrators to run the country.

Trump, on the other hand, is a con-man candidate who believes his own bullshit, so he hires horrible administrators willing to actually try to make bullshit a policy pursuit.

Plus, a few things people forget:

(1.) COVID is not in place of the flu, it's in addition to the flu and you could get both.

(2.) It's possible to get either or others multiple times

(3.) We don't know why in some people covid migrates from their throat to their lungs causing pneumonia, which means nobody is really safe.

(4.) Note on stats like "80% chance you'll be fine" - there's a joke in health care: the average person has one tit and one nut. Which means, if you're an 80 year old with gene x then your risk could be zero ... and if you're a 30 year old with gene y your risk is 90% - it's only when you average those that you get 80% overall.

And even then, think of it this way:

Say you're prepping to board a flight of 200 people heading to Chicago. The captain greets you and says, "Afternoon folks, a quick announcement: on this flight today, 40 of you will be hospitalized and 6 of you are going to die, but good news: That's only a 3% death rate and there's an 80% chance you're fine!!"

Would that be a flight you'd take?
