At least I was able to just return the car to BMW and not get stuck with a car with greatly diminished value. That's when I thought "I need to warn people looking for a used M3 to avoid this car."

Although I will say, it was impeccably repaired.

For real, you're definitely lucky that you leased it. I was side-swiped by a truck on a leased 135i.

After it came out the shop, every time I hit a bump or incline and the suspension rebounded, you would hear this creaking sound, like a cricket getting gang-raped.

The quarter-panel just could not be aligned properly, even after multiple attempted repairs.

I also notice quarter-panel lip was cutting into the edge of the tire. What a nightmare that was but my saving grace is that it wasn't mines..

I return that vehicle to the BMW Financial and and never looked back.

There should be no safety concerned from the pictures.

If anyone does find this car listed for sale, please post here. I'd be curious to see how much it is selling for.

I don't know what all the concern is about... the hit wasn't that bad imho. Granted, I did not see it in person. As someone who works on cars, body and mechanical, as long as it is repaired to the factory specifications, there should not be any concern with the repair.

I agree - and ....
Too many body shops are about getting the insurance money and moving on. Reputation means nothing cause they have the insurance business coming in.

My thought was, if this was repaired correctly (by a good shop), then it will be fine. The Carfax hit might be $$$ today (I bet no more than $5,000), but that delta decreases over time.

I have a few friends who bought cars from this place that only had minor cosmetic damage and they got good deals. A car with major structural damage, unless I knew who did the repair, I'd probably stay away.

looks like the same car... sunroof, base headlights, tinted sidemarkers, comp wheels.

as long as the car drives well you're fine. what sucks though is that there might not be anything on the Carfax, but any reasonable person looking to buy your car in the future will see this thread when they google the VIN.

Hopefully this actually becomes a good resource for whoever buys this car. Some people are fine with taking the risk of buying a vehicle that has an accident on its record for a discount and this would actually be nice having a video and pictures of what happened.

I'll be making one of these posts when I turn my lease in next April.

I had front end collision damage after hitting a concrete highway divider at low speed (someone veered into my lane, causing me to fishtail in the rain), and a new engine and single piece crankhub put in after a spun crankhub. It looks brand new, and runs great (I'm still running JB4 and DPs), but would rather folks know all this in detail up front.

Good looking out. Perhaps you’d also care to disclose how many times you farted on the front seat...?
