Yeah, using the zip ties to snake it along the existing siphon tube is a nifty idea, will see how it goes in practice. I imagine getting the zip ties cinched just the right amount will be trick

Not a tough install with a new lpfp

image hosting

Pro tip is to install the new o ring right away. Can't get it on once the pump has been fed over

Thanks for this... don't have instructions right in front of me, so can't remember -- what do you do with the now-unused siphon tube? Just leave it in there?

I hooked it back up. Not looking at the instructions now so would have to double check but pretty sure it's supposed to be reinstalled.

Ah, OK thx... it's been a while since I looked at the instructions, for some reason I was thinking the new pickup was connecting back to the LPFP using the connection point to the siphon tube

Also: you plan to leave it running all the time? Or pull the fuse for when not on track (if applicable)?

Mine's a DD too, so was thinking might as well reduce its duty hours and only have it running when on track.

Mine runs whenever the car is on. Not really concerned, the duty hours should be insane in something like this

I was planning to just leave it on.

It works. It doesn't transform the F8X fuel system into the E9X one, but it's much better than stock!

This product, and thread, has absolutely nothing to do with fuel type, aftermarket lpfp/hpfp and definitely not about producing absurd levels of hp & torque. It’s about being able to corner at high speeds/Gs without encountering fuel pickup problems.

Not absolutely necessary, but supposedly makes things much quicker/easier (vs a hammer + screwdriver).

Hopefully will get to doing this in next few weeks (DCT service on docket for this weekend)

I hope so, it's the one I ordered too! This is the one referenced in Stefan's video on swapping the lpfp, so I assume it's correct but haven't yet verified.

gonna tackle this install with an on/off switch relay near the fuse box area.

Hope we are able to route the pump to passive side of the tank easily. Testing on next TD 28 Feb.

*fingers crossed I can get to 1/3 tank before starvation

Installed the BW kit this AM. I took my time (particularly with the Dremeling), took me a few hours (including some leather cleaning and vacuuming).

The included BW instructions were quite thorough, so not a whole lot more to add. But a few additional tips:

- The ring remover mentioned above is the correct one. When it was time to re-install, I sprayed the receiving base ring with some Teflon lube spray around the lock points, which I think helped get it on
- Watch something like the Kies video on swapping the LPFP first. This is mainly to understand how the passive siphon tube connection is made on the pump and what you need to do get the pump out
- When drilling the hole for the bulkhead, the BW instructions give you the required diameter for the hole itself (for the threaded portion), but don't forget to account for the additional needed clearance of the wider top base nut. I didn't think of this ahead of time but got lucky that I had enough space
- Be sure to pay attention to the orientation of the plastic wire connectors. I put one of them on backwards initially.
- I was too lazy/impatient to try to route the external wires through the existing rubber grommet tunnel along the OEM wiring harness. So I took a small drill bit and drilled through a nearby flat section of the grommet at a very shallow diagonal, then used a small needle-nose to gently widen the hole and to grab the wire ends and pull them down through. I'm pretty sure this shouldn't make the car explode
- EDIT: SEE POSTS BELOW. Key thing is routing the new pump hose/wires around the back side of the pump so that nothing interferes with the float (newer BW instructions should mention this)
- Getting the seat belt receptacles back through the seat on re-install is a bit of PITA. Snap in the belts as a means to pull them up through, along with a flathead to jimmy them along

For the last 8-9 months I've been working on and off on a solution for this. A prototype is currently being tested.

Main points are:
1. Completely new LPFP bucket design in aluminum, which will hold 30+% more fuel

2. Upgraded venturis for higher flow and replenishment of the bucket

3. Added an additional pick-up point on the driver's side, with a surface area much wider than a fuel pump sock

4. Lift pump for the additional pick-up point remains on the passenger's side and is still controlled by the DME (The DME will PWM the lift pump up and down with respect to engine load, OR can set it to whatever static duty cycle you want with easy to use software)

5. Billet top hat. No drilling will be necessary and no more burnt connectors.

A more detailed post here (ignore the ugly fuel lines, will be upgraded later):
