Wiring to Battery - Race Intercom

Hey team - I am considering wiring an intercom setup into my car for track day coaching so that I can better communicate with the coach. The setup I am looking at is a Rugged Radio 6100 that needs to be connected directly to the battery.

I have an M4 GTS and am wondering if there is an issue connecting directly to the battery due to it being lithium?

Any help is appreciated.

Many of us has taken direct connections to the battery for audio systems. Only thing to consider is if the unit causes a slow drain of the battery.

Otherwise, you could take the power feed from the back of the 12 volt accessory sockets and save having to wire to back of car.

That is super helpful. Any more insights how to accomplish that from the back of the 12v socket?

This method would work

Otherwise you work out the connectors part numbers used to feed the front console 12volt aux output and make a y cable using 2.5mm2 wire.

Or just get one of these or similar and use the hidden 12v socket under the front console. You’d still be able to use intercom with ignition off.

BMW 12v aux sockets are almost always on.
Give you the ability to power off the unit whilst your car isn’t being used. Just drop the fuse down to 5 amps or so.
