After a few laps as a passenger, I returned and handed over my keys to an awesome dude.
I said, take the car alone so you can really enjoy yourself!

Anyone care to guess who?
(You can hear his voice at the end)

Definitely Randy!
That is so cool. Looks fast...
I remember that he loved the car when he tested it a while ago...

That is so cool! Pobst in your car around the home track is pretty much ideal. See what you're missing.

Are you stock with track specs?

The BW M4 GT4 GS class qualifying time at last year’s VIR race was 1:54 - M4 GTS is pretty quick out of the box

Pffff, ½ second variance out the box. Whatever.

The video and reported times are cool and all… but things we definitely know about the GTS:

- It’s only 2 seconds faster on track than a base M4.
- Not even close to 991 GT3 pace on track.
- Magazine lap times in factory GTS settings set by guys who usually test Silverados are gospel.

So this impromptu 3 lap session, driven with restraint in someone’s privately owned GTS, absent any setup adjustments or time with the car in the low 2’s @ VIR doesn’t work.

Why don’t you just tell us where you sped up the footage

Pretty positive review actually:
"I found the m4 to be a really enjoyable car on track it handles way better in GTS form than in the street card form so it's a real genuine step forward for the car to bedriven really hard it is stable it has significant understeer in the middle of the corner and then it frees up and gets really neutral under power I found that I had to be a little careful in second gear because it has enough power to easily spend the tires which I did on my first lap really enjoyable driving experience the car is tight there's no sense of body roll flopping or any of those kind of street car feelings you get on a track it is well damp it transfers the weight slowly and under control the transmission was terrific it was quick and accurate and I found it easy to find the right shift point steering field was really good it's balanced the cars fast fun easy to drive and really happy on the racetrack"

That IS positive, thanks for the correction. I suppose I just remember the dismal "relative" performance of the GTS and tone of the article at the time. Maybe an over sensitive new owner at the time too ....

Us M4 GTS owners are like children who were abused-- haha!! Any little negative thing we take too personally because of the depreciation

The fact that Pat did a 2:05 that same day with his GTS is really impressive! I was lucky enough to ride with Randy in my car, too, and it's just other-world to feel what a couple seconds faster in your own car feels like. Man, what a good day that was!!

Also, watching the video, he was braking way earlier than necessary - at least 2 markers early. He did this with me, too. Something like "it's not my car" or whatever...

Yeah he was coasting to the braking zones and not sliding it around at all. With we could see his hands.
