Auto Club Speedway, irregular tire wear..
Hi everyone, I recently went to the HOD, 2 day HPDE event on the Roval; at beginning of April. About mid day on the first day I noticed that my right front tire was starting to cup on the outside edge. At first I thought it was just rubber build up but by the end of the second day it was a lot more noticeable. Is this maybe caused from the high speed bank? Currently on stock alignment.
Thanks, Dan |

This is normal at ACS. Passenger front tire takes most of the cornering load on T1 and T2. I speak from experience with multiple cars I've ran at that track. I was there this Sunday in my CS as well.

Good to know. I guess I'll just try swap them left to right in between sessions. Probably gonna take a razor to the high spots and see how it works out at Bimmerfest. Thanks 🤙

I was running 27.5 cold with pirelli pzero's, then after the second session I took 2lbs out of the right side due to ambient temp.

Stock, who said I was stock? Didn't the Pirelli PZero I mentioned give you a hint I wasn't stock?! lol
In case you think I wasn't truthful here's the video (in car gps showed 1:47.4 but Speed Ventures transponder showed 1:47.1: |

Mention of P Zeros could have meant non slick P Zeros that come on some street cars. Good time! I was I think in the same session as you a couple of times. |

Wow.. I saw both of you at speedventures ACS this Sunday too!
I was in the blue M3 with my friend's RCF, and grey M3. I snapped pics of both of your cars lol But in all seriousness, stock f80 with exhaust, I ran 2:06 with crap tires and stock brakes. No bubbles on my tires but they did start to crack after 3rd session. Ran about 27-29 psi cold, with mpss. |

Even if the track accelerated the wear, this is completely normal on stock alignment settings on any track. The stock alignment will eat your front tires up on the outside shoulders.

Interesting. So for a stock M3CS driven aggressively on the street do you guys recommend adding a little camber to offset outside shoulder wear?

If you want to track the car then you'll want to add camber plates + adjust camber and toe a bit. I'm still running stock alignment and my front outside shoulder wear is terrible. You can reduce the wear slightly by increasing your tire pressure to reduce the amount of sidewall that makes contact with the ground but it will make relatively small difference and take away from the tires performance. I ran my NT-01s at around 38 PSI last weekend and I did get slightly reduced wear on the shoulder compared to usual but I sacrificed the tire's performance as it would have ran way better 5+ psi less. |
