In fact, if anything infants and children require warmth not cold. Regardless, BMW ac is pretty phenomenal and I'm confident that a child driving in the back seat will not die form heat exposure. I'm still not even sure this is serious, with all the legislation in the automotive industry, do people really believe they overlooked this detail.....fuel economy, pedestrian bumpers, full airbag requirements, 360 light id...but no, let kids die in the back seat from heat while the front are saved, cool....

Crazy times...
Yeah but look how fucked up we turned out.

Speak for yourself. I turned out fine, great career and nice family. But if lack of rear ac causes parents to divorce, I'll give you that. Interesting to see this still happens today with all the rear ac though.

It's fine but to each their own but I also have a wrangler that I drive top down in the summer in the ATL. BUT if concerned...keep looking for something else as they should be the top priority.

Bro..it could be 20 degrees hotter today(which I don't agree with this as an argument btw) and it still doesn't compare to growing up in the 70s-80s where cars barely had front working ac.
My parents and every other fully functioning child of that era mostly drove around with the windows down, no ac on, no seat belt, and pretty much like a dog just being a kid head poking out the window or riding in the bed of a pick-up.
Older gen cars are probably much hotter than today as they used real insulation and the cars were metal. Nonetheless, looking at historical data on whether underground for Texas temperatures 1980 vs 2018 and the difference is minimal. So if you have data showing where across the whole United States there has been a proven 10 degree increase in temperatures then please post it.
I said our seat is about 10 degree less than child car seat. Not weather. Average temp is getting higher every year that's why ice cube in north and south gets smallest

You guys are a bunch of pussies. Kids didn’t use to need car seats back in the day so we should stop using those too... hey we turned out fine right?

There will be time later on in life to get a car like this. Probably not the best time now.
San Antonio, nonetheless.. hot as hell in the summer!!

https://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/c...s/child-safety

Just like most things we seem to project our own singular experiences as the truth. Not sure what the stats are on the reduction in overall Child deaths in hot cars over the past 50 years as air con was introduced but for car seats it's pretty cut and dry.

As for whether to get a CS or not with little kids, personally I wouldn't - I'd get a comp pack and pocket the difference whilst I have small kids for their comfort.

Lol that kid looks happy

Some of these guys here the commenting like if the OP asked if kids will die without rear vents (he didn’t).

Will kids be ok in a car without rear vents? Sure
Is it hot as hell in Texas during the summer? Hell yeah!
Will they be more uncomfortable in Texas heat? Likely
Will they die from this discomfort? No
Will they (babies) likely act out or cry from discomfort? Yep
Will this crying make you want to pull your hair out a little? Maybe...

God forbid a kid be uncomfortable in any way now and days. At least when they do feel uncomfortable about anything in life we have “safe spaces” and “cry closets”

Got to coddle them man. How else will they grow up knowing they are special and they
matter?

A lot of you old men need to stop grandstanding. You're on a forum dedicated to modern LUXURY vehicles the likes of which a lot of people aren't privy to. It's not about survival, it's about convenience.

Idk when I become a parent, will rear a/c be a thought when I shop for my car....prolly not

Full stop. No need to go further. Personally, rear AC on any of my cars is not a must even even as a parent, but "everyone has different parenting strategies" so I'm not going to accuse anyone of being a bad parent because they want AC in the rear. IMHO pacifying a child does not always mean they are doing it wrong and every child is as different as there are ways of parenting.

yeah dude I figure. no right or wrongs just balance

on that note...the rear a/c for adults in my m3 feels like a cough than a/c. Also the rear heated seats dont fare to well either, but then again im comparing them to the oven roasters in the front

And that’s just it, you have an idea, but until you actually become one you really don't know how you’ll approach it. Plus whoever your partner is will obviously have a say in it to. I hope......

My parents chain smoked like chimneys in the car while we rolled around in the back unbuckled. Do I do that with my kid, hell no. My parents didn’t help with a car or college etc. Does that mean I’ll do the same, probably not. Do I give into everything, hell no. Would I pick a car for my own selfish reasons and knowingly make an infant extremely uncomfortable, hell no. Not saying the CS is that, but you get the idea.

You can bet your ass everyone of them uses the A/C when it is hot out so they are not uncomfortable. I guess it is okay then.
