Race buckets known to fit in F80 with interior in place
Looking to install half cage, fixed backed seats, and 6pt harnesses in my F80 for track duty. Car is now trailered and the only street use are trips to a mechanic.
The only fixed back race buckets I know will fit with the interior in place are the Sparco QRT-R and Recaro Profi. Anyone have anything else installed? OMP WRC-R? Not looking for a halo seat. |

I'm using the Brey Krause harness bar, just like I've done in my E92 and E90. It's tested to DOT guidelines, allows me to carry 6 tires in the car (link in my signature) and doesn't require welding/drilling It's a fantastic product. I pair it with their seat mounts as well which allow me to keep the OEM sliders which are head and shoulders better than any aftermarket slider, including the Recaros I really like the Ergo and have run it in 3 M3s already. The removable halo is a huge plus for me. I had an accident at the track once and was in a halo seat... the slow motion footage shows how hard my head smashed into the halo... |

Why no halo? If you're taking it to the track on a trailer and rarely street driving, I don't see why you would not get a full containment seat?

Fair question. I was kinda concerned with visibility. And also concerned with fit at halo seats are even wider. But I’d be happy to know which halo sits fit as well!

also, if you are getting a halo seat and not using a HANS device is kinda pointless and would probably be more problematic than helpful on track lmao

The Sparco Ergo mentioned above solves the visibility issue by having removable halos. Take them off for the street and bolt them in at the track.

Based on the feedback I’ve received here... Sparco Ergo it is. Now trying to decide if I want to “bolt in” (but drill a couple holes through floor pan) an RSR half cage. Or bring the car to Mark McMahan for a half cage and rear seat delete.
The photos I’ve seen of the RSR half cage show the harness bar below the shoulder holes which is not ideal. Ideal would be at the same level, no? |

Bimmerworld has a rear bolt in cage that requires no drilling.
