Premium features I wish my M3 had

I have a 2017 ZCP M3. I just bought a new Q7 Prestige for my wife (which I will in turn get to drive a lot when we are going places as a family) and love it.

I know this is first-world problems, but it now drives me crazy my M3 doesn't have cooled seats and more importantly, doesn't have adaptive cruise control. The Traffic Jam Assist feature on the Audi is SO nice. It drives itself on the highway and in traffic if I want it to. Coming back to my BMW after it feels archaic by comparison. The Virtual Cockpit is also so nice and more modern than our F80s.

All of this makes me wonder if I should get an RS5 Sportback (I need four doors for kids/family). But I love my BMW, I just wouldn't have bought it today given all this. I really regret buying Mineral White because the side skirt area is all beat up from rock chips and the Suntek full front wrap shows dirt around the edges and has yellowed a bit. Last time I own a white car! I should have known and wrapped more areas of it, but like I said, that brings its own challenges.

Anyone else wish BMW offered cooled seats and adaptive cruise?

#1 Cool seats (As in ventilated seats)
#2 Adaptive cruise control
#3 Lane keeping

But #1 is the biggest wish I have!

FYI, I was also looking at the RS5 Sportback the other day. But really, if you want to sometimes track the car, best off staying with the M3.

For sure we should have cooled seats. I am ok without the adaptive and I use cruise a lot on the highway.

When we were car shopping last month, my wife was in love with the RS5 Sportback but we ended up buying a 2016 F83. We absolutely love the F83 and are having a lot of fun with it.

The RS5 Sportback is an amazing car. The virtual cockpit is beautiful, the interior is jaw-dropping, the sportback provides for a huge trunk, and having four doors is great for our two kids, but we couldn't stomach the $97k sticker. With that said, my wife has decided we're buying one in three years when the lease returns start happening.

Things I wish I had but don't because of my ex-wife ! Back to the thread, I really wish the f80 had adaptive cruise too! I could pretty much live without the rest.

BMWs cooled seats aren't that great so I think you would still be disappointed anyway. You get an M3 to drive and not let the car do it for you so I guess I don't get the Adaptive Cruise feature. How far are you driving where this really comes into play? I've got a 30 mile commute and wouldn't use it. The Audi virtual cockpit is very cool, but not a reason to give up RWD driving dynamics IMO.

I'm not saying this to be sarcastic, but in reality it sounds like you would be happier in an Audi or Benz. Too many people buy what they think they should than what they really want for their needs and end up disappointed like this.

Anywhere on the highway, most parts of the country have shit traffic some time of day it is absolutely amazing for this. It's also absolutely fantastic for long road trips (traveling to mountains for joy driving etc).

My commute is 25 miles round trip and I would use it anytime during heavy traffic because it's a PITA. Obviously not needed in light traffic...

Have you looked at the M5? If you're married to BMW then sounds like this would be the best fit for your desires.

Other option might be wait until the G80?

Otherwise the RS5 is a helluva car.

Another thread about “cooled” seats? Imagine that.

For applicable models like the Q7, Audi seats are ventilated, not cooled, like many manufacturers. There is a difference, much like running the vents in the car with a/c off vs. on. I doubt the RS5 has cooled seats and I’m not even sure it has ventilated seats.

Coming from my fully loaded 2014 S4, there are a couple of things I miss..

- Side mirror lane change assist (surprisingly handy)
- Reverse camera (unbelievably handy)

I just bought my '17 M3 2 weeks ago and it doesn't have either of these features. I imagine that the reverse camera is an option on the M3, which the previous owner of my car simply opted not to add. I didn't think I'd miss the reverse camera very much but I was wrong. Oh well...

Prior to whenever backup cameras were mandated by U.S. government, backup camera and top view cameras, as well as front side view cameras were part of option packages on the M3/M4. Side assist light is also an option although it was easier to see on my B8.5 S4. M3/M4 also has optional lane departure warning although I leave it off 90% of the time.

I wish my m4 has

Soft closing door.
Full leather, not like half door leather and call themself a full leather :
Bigger idrive screen.
Better center ac and radio control
Full width led bottom display like x5m not just right half led display.

What I really want is the automatic seatbelt tightening like in AMG's. Anyone who has ever put their seatbelt on in an AMG knows what I'm talking about. Love that feature.

It's in the newer G series cars. My wife's 550 has it and the new 3 series loaner I just had has it to.

I can't imagine using it in stop and go/heavy traffic. I guess I'm too much of a control freak when it comes to driving in situations like that.

I had a new 5 series as a loaner. It has that feature.

Better ambient lighting, and cooled seats. (both are coming in the G80 though) Mercedes is killing us in that segment of interior features.

I don't mean stop and go but more like >25mph but <50mph situations where it fluctuates a lot.
