Dear Michelin...WTF?! Cup2 Connect grooves.
Got my new Cup2 Connect to suit my 666M today - Fantastic tyre, best I've had so far in the line-up of: PSS, PS4S, Cup2, Goodyear Supersport R, and now the Cup2 Connect. I was a bit concerned by the images of the wider tread gap, and the higher treadwear vs Cup2 - but WOW great tyre! But picking them up at my local tyre shop, I had to re-read the side walls to confirm I had the right tyres. I had seen the sensor holder rubber inside prior to fitment, so I knew they were Connect's, but when I picked them up - the tread pattern was different, I thought the rears were regular Cup2's. No, just what Michelin do between 265/30/20 and 285/30/20. But, why?!

so michelin was 180 UTQG for a while. then briefly they had 240 UTQG or DT1 (different tread 1) for M2 CS wheels 245 and 265 this year. then they came out with connect. then there's connect 240 UTQG, etc. what you have is probably 180 and 240 UTQG tires. i have DT1 (non connect) 240 UTQG 265 and 180 UTQG 285 in my M3 CS. they look different. i like the new tread design better, they wear less and yet the grip is superb. i think the top pic is 180 and bottom is 240 rating.
look for star rating on the side wall. does it have it? also do you have MO or MO1 also? that's for mercedes. i prefer none of that crap and plain blackwall tires. there are so many variations within micheilns. check the side wall and post pics or tell us what you ahve. i wouldn't worry about it. |

here's a pic of new DT1 240 on the left and worn plain cup2 180 UTQG on the right, really worn... hard to see the tread pattern but u can tell they're different - gap spacing, how far the treads go , etc. insdie outside, middle. the compound is different.
