****update*****
Dealership just called me. They told me that my rear diff needs to be taken apart. They said they are sure if this is related to the drive shaft recall. Meaning, one problem lead to another. Was told that it will likely be a week or more before they figure things out with the recall. I'll be in the loaner for a while longer. On a side note, I wonder, since they said the rear diff had no oil in it, if that is the whine I have been hearing under 5 MPH the last 2 days. Also, lately when I was putting the car in reverse it hasn't always engaged. They think the diff is related to that. I'll share more as I learn more. |

It happens about once a week. Car is in gear and it doesn't move. It happens 3/4 times in reverse though. It's funny that's the first thing I said to the SA. Look, I know how to drive this thing. My foot is on the brake. I know for a fact this is happening. We shall see...

Just for the record, BMW has indeed issued a recall of the driveshaft for approx. 2,677 M3 & M4 vehicles in the US with production dates ranging from Mar 2, 2016 – Sep 30, 2016.
