Don't disagree with the hysteria. I think as these influencers switch to another car (within 6 months to 1 year), the M cars will fall off the spotlight and the prices will deflate somewhat.
I'm cringing as the F8x is in the hands of some influencers and we're going to see more of the cars destroyed. =( Quote:

P-car question: I was considering the 991 GTS at some point. What's with the centerlock wheels? I liked everything except that as it just makes it less practical when it came to changing tires/wheels.
I know its for racing, but since most of us don't have pit crews helping us change tires, what's the point except bragging rights and being way more impractical as you need specialized tools to work on the wheels. |

It's nice to see what the Sport Design fins on the rear bumper look like in flat black. I like it. I don't know how I feel about mono-lug and those turbo wheels though. I like the alcantara on the doors, roof, etc.
It'll be interesting to see if there's a wheel option that isn't black and if I can get the AeroKit wing. If it's possible, I may ask if they can extend my discount to a GTS allocation. It might be a stretch though. If not, I'll be trying to source that short shifter, matte black front lip and matte black fins stat. |

You can DIY a wheel change at home, I would do it myself too and that's coming from a person in the tyre business - I just wouldn't trust a random shop with the wheel swap unless I know they've got experience. You gotta have someone (or a tool) to stand on the brakes to break the nut, clean the hub, lube it up, etc. CanAutM3 will tell ya how he's planning to do it.

That the EU has now put a rule into place that new passenger vehicles with a type approval from July 2022 must be equipped with Intelligent Speed Assistance system. Works on the basis of the existing SLI systems. By 2024, any new car on the market will have to have it, just like ESP, AEB, etc today. There are four ways OEMs can choose to implement the system, but basically, it just will not want to allow you to go any faster than what the road sign says. Some cars already have it now, trucks have had 90-kph limiters for years and all Volvos have got an electronically-limited top speed of just 180 kph. By law, there must be an on/off switch, too, but everyone just knows damn well it won't be too long before there is no button to turn it off... We could talk about its actual impact on safety, I have my opinions on whether this actually is the right path towards safer roads... and we could even turn it into a philosophical discussion - I don't have the brains for any kind of deep talk - but it all looks like that we, at least here in Europe, are headed towards a dystopian future. They really are trying to suck every bit of fun out of driving and other related parts of lives. Mark my words: the day the crazy German Green Party or some other fucks ban the few remaining unrestricted parts of the Autobahn is the day we are officially doomed, forever.

Porsche has cited the rotating mass advantage: The new 911 GT3 runs on onepiece, titanium-colored, 19-inch GT3 wheels. Taken directly from motorsport is the new central locking device with GT3 logo. The advantages over a conventional five-hole screwed fitting include better driving dynamics and performance thanks to fewer 'rotating masses' and, of course, faster wheel changes. A huge advantage – especially when racing. I'm a paranoid, incapable mechanic. Won't touch them. Also not a fan of the fact that no tire shop or standard dealer would be able to help with a tire repair/change if I'm in a tough spot. Entire system has to be replaced after so many track miles. Believe my indy said rears at 6k track miles and something like $2k.

Personally, the GTS is probably the best car for everyone mainly because it is the best built car outside of an actual GT car. It isn't as compromised as GT cars, you get comforts and things the GT cars don't get because they are stripped.
But as CanAutM3 mentioned, it is kind of like the BMW F8x CS/GTS cars vs the Regular/ZCP cars. You are missing things on those cars too but it isn't going to kill you not having them.
