The large flaw in this logic is that you can't compare a used car which has already depreciated significantly to a brand new car. By your logic, a brand new GT3 (which would be worth $20-30K less after 1 year - about the same drop as your CS quote) is a terrible car compared to a E46 M3 (which may appreciate).
