Newest Apple CarPlay?

Hi there. I just purchased a 2016 M3 and want to add Apple CarPlay. Now that’s it been a bit since all these coding options have been out what is the most recent winner for both simplicity to install/ cost/ and usage. Thanks.

I have an interest in this as well, but would like to know if after the CarPlay full screen, upgrade, will I be able to choose/toggle between Apple CarPlay and the BMW operating system or will it just be Apple CarPlay from now on

Just did this myself for my 2016 M4. First thing to do is determine whether you have the newer hardware. You should if your vehicle was built from 7/2016. If yours was built before that, you really should consider buying the newer head unit so you can code it to the latest ID6 version, from which Apple CarPlay works flawlessly. I recommend Straight Six Auto Parts for the used iDrive components (if you need them) and kubax86 for the coding—he’s excellent. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
