For as much as the right likes to throw around the word snowflake, you guys are sure acting like one on this issue.

Funny thing is, for years the NFL has employed drug addicts, dead beat dad's, child abusers, domestic abusers, rapists, and even murderers. None of those things have caused you to boycott the NFL before, but now that you guys have got a leftist issue to rail against, the line is drawn. Typical.

I enjoyed watching the game last night. Oh, I generally focus in on the football game, not the national anthem.

When I was in junior high school, there was a Jehovah's Witness kid in my first period class. They don't salute the flag for religious reasons, so he sat quietly and respectfully for the anthem and pledge.

Some of the kids started hassling him, then the teacher joined in. I started sitting next to him, and doing what he did, because I thought it was more important to support his exercise of his First Amendment rights than to mindlessly engage in a ritual, then violate everything it stands for.

The teacher sent me to the principal's office, where I was threatened with a suspension... then the school district's lawyer stepped in and told him to send me back to class immediately.

The teacher apologized to my classmate in front of the entire class (at the order of the school district, I'm sure) and gave a lengthy talk on the First Amendment, including Supreme Court decisions that say Jehovah's Witnesses can't be compelled to salute the flag.

After that, I stood for the anthem and said the pledge again, proud to live in a country where the Constitution actually works to protect the rights of individuals.

You sir, win the internet today. Congratulations!

I believe in free speech for The Klan, Neo-Nazi's, BLM, Planned Parenthood, The Weather Underground, The Black Panthers, Antifa - and affiliated basement dwellers...each and every one of them. This is what the First Amendment is about and there is no greater embodiment of the spirit of the amendment than standing up for those who believe in things that your are completely against.

The First Amendment. My fellow Americans, remember what our constitution says and don't become distracted by feelings and politics. The protest of the players in the NFL is not a protest against the flag but a respectful protest to bring attention to the matter of racial injustice and is perfectly in the spirit of our great country. I am a veteran and I kneel before God and I see nothing wrong with kneeling during the National Anthem to bring attention to a problem. I'd rather see that than rioting in the streets and other violence.

Cheers-mk

Fuck the NFL.

I have to laugh when a bunch of domestically abusive druggie clowns who are paid way too much to play a game, and live in fantasy land, tell me I should listen to what they have to say about equality.

Yeah, okay.

Same here. Making millions and complaining that you're oppressed. Fuck that. White privilege? These athletes have privilege and access that we can only dream of. That's privilege.

Well ...The Constitution actually "works" to constrain the federal government versus protecting individuals ... for example, while the federal government can't ban guns, state and local governments can (and do), so the Constitution isn't necessarily saying what rights individuals have, rather it's saying what rights the federal government DOESN'T have.

I only point this out because that's about the most unpopular thing to say to any US citizen, especially one with "esq" in their username, and I like to stir shit up.

They are making millions and complaining that there is a inequality between white officers and black men. Yes fuck that, damn white privilege. These athletes have a privilege and access that we can only dream of. Good for them as to most worked hard for that privilege.

This is why you don't want to watch the NFL and that's your choice.
