NASA seems to be very concerned about climate change, and I trust their assessment.

I can't plug in the block (head) heater if the other block head doesn't leave it in its normal place. Duh!!! Help me out here!!

It's the cow farts

While I believe human activity is a factor in our climate, I thought this was a bit over the top:

Guess if a cow farts too many times, it gets sent to the meat packing plant

Why shouldn't humans affect the climate? We live here too. Trees affect the climate, as do fish, plankton, beavers, horses, etc. That's why I find the whole globalwarmingclimatechange freakout so amusing. Just because we are humans and understand the Earth climate model somewhat, we are supposed to be climate-neutral?

The whole discussion is a joke and serves only one purpose, which is to give politicians more power and people less freedom.

Well of course humans affect the climate - that’s a given.

The key difference between humans and your other examples
is humans have the ability to make choices; both good and bad.

It appears that too many folks these days would rather bury their
head in the sand and let someone else live with the consequences
in the future, after we’re long gone. Rape our planet ne$t today
and to heck with future - the future we’re passing off to children
and grand children.

So yeah, humans have a bigger brain than your examples, but
refuse to use it.

I believe that on a daily basis most people will choose to do the right thing rather than the wrong thing when the profit motive is excluded. The profit motive makes it very cloudy and can cause people and organizations to do the wrong thing with respect to long-term oversight of our natural resources. There definitely has to be a balance and scare tactics aren't the way to do it, IMHO.

As the species which has the most potential to affect the ecosystem, we have, if not the responsibility of other life, but the self-interest of our own to perhaps limit the changes we make in a positive as opposed to negative way.

As someone who grew up in a very air polluted Los Angeles in the 70's and 80's, seeing how much cleaner it is now is a good reminder of how some regulations regarding clean air and thus less of a footprint can result in better living conditions for ourselves.

The debate, I think, is how far do we regulate our use of energy as to not disrupt our way of life in an adverse way. What's the balance between environmental nazis, and self-destructive wreck-less abandon?

Indeed. Carbon credits and carbon swaps have nothing to do with improving the climate.

Actually, the earth is not perfectly round. It's an imperfect oblate spheroid which means: it's more flat at the poles than at the equator. Blew my mind too! So funny enough the flat earthers and the round earthers are both partially right! Round earthers are more right but still...

I'll leave it in the van after the weekend. With a few select items, as well.

Investing in our future is the key word, actually.

Sure, some of the old ways such as coal, were/are profitable, but at the expense of our environment. Newer replacement energy sources can and will be profitable, but it requires investment. It's always been that way. We've come a long, long ways since campfires and steam engines.

The difference is the market determined the investment, not Government.
