Nice job! I saw the 1LE ran a :37 (at least that's what his youtube video says) so that seems like a very respectable time. I need to make my way up there at somepoint, just hard to get excited about flat tracks

Gingerman isn't flat homeboy! Not quite Mid-Ohio rolling, but many elevation changes. Bring that beast up here.

How's the weather up there going into the summer? I just got back from NCM and holy hell it was miserable. 93deg, sunny, no wind, and humid. Yikes |

Yeah, July and August days can get pretty brutal. Spring and fall Gingerman track days are where it's at. Great track, underrated. Laid back, run by quality people. Worth the drive up. And Camaros love it.

New PB at VIR
Went to VIR with Chin on June 1/2. Had multiple laps into the 2:09 range, almost 1 sec better than last time. Was also on the last possible legs with the rear pads, and went home early for fear of having some massive off - I think I know how to go faster and break into the 2:08 with the same setup, with good pads all around. Anyway I am currently running BM3 Stage 1 with torque limiters (20% first two gears and 10% for the rest) - love it, and it helped me rotate the car easier in a few corners.
Interesting bits: max recorded speed in any lap 154.9mph (back straight), virtual best 2:07.84... VIR Full Course 2:09:39 adc 2018 6mt M3 EDC (GC plates, NT01 275/305, PFC08, motul 660, BM3 Stage 1) Harry's Laptimer

Unfortunately no video. I do have the aim data from the solo dl though. It didn't pick up the obd data but I have the speed/time trace. I wasn't expecting the car to be that quick so was unprepared with having any video setup. I would like to go back in the fall when it cools off some with some wider tires. Ran 285/645 front and rear this past time and will be going to 30/65 Michelin for the next one. Going to try to shave off a little more time.

No doubt. Great tires. I fortunately have a consistent source of used, take offs from our group of pca racers and our imsa GS AMG. Even worn out they have better and more consistent grip than the r888r's we ran on the car before.

Slippery slope from here, I'm afraid. Talked with guys who run and interchange slicks and Cup 2, describe 2 day old Cup 2 like they're last week's leftovers. It's like, yeah dude... they're total trash, why'd you even show? Limited to like 1.3 g? Pfff.

Out of curiosity, for those who do the take-off thing -- how do you get them mounted? This takes a hook-up of some kind too? Would imagine running into pushback from the local chain place...

The DH went off dramatically towards the end of the day, three seconds a lap and short lap at that, 1:25 - but man was it fun while it lasted. This was at a Porsche club event, all the better! |

M4 does punish tires. I jumped something like 12 psi during one session yesterday. It's an ongoing management process.

23 PSI?! *edit* seems pretty darn low, even in the morning sessions. Great pic tho.

Track: Autodromo Riccardo Paletti, Varano di' Melegari, Italy.
Time: 1:20.96, using BMW M LapTimer. Car: 2018 M3, DCT. Suspension: Nitron R1 coilovers with 450/750 springs and front camber plates. Brakes: Essex AP Racing 9660 with Hawk DTC-70 front pads, titanium shims, and 3D printed cooling scoops. Ferodo D2500 pads and titanium shims in rear on stock calipers. Porsche front scoops on rear suspension arm and 2" CEET hose to rear rotor. Wheels/tires: 18" BMW 513M with Yokohama A052 in stock sizes. Aero: RW Carbon canards in front and 3D-printed vortex generators for the rear. This is my first track day for the year, an on an unfamiliar and non-FIA certified circuit. I took it easy, since all three heavy braking zones were bumpy and had little runoff. Next weekend: my first time at Vallelunga! |
