What a monster, can’t wait for you to get your hands on it!

And the end..........

Seriously though, what a jarring contrast between the two.

Yeah - I could get over the charging there are plenty of chargers close to the canyons where I live but ... my problem is with the Taycan design - I think they missed a window, i.e., at the time they were competing with the Tesla S in form factor, but that's not where the market is:

(1.) The Taycan is fucking huge!

Range Rover: 197″L x 78″W, cargo max: 69 cu ft
Taycan: 195″L x 78″W geezus!, cargo max: 14 cu ft
F80 M3: 184"L x 74"W, cargo max: 17 cu ft
What in the actual fuck? An F80 is a foot shorter, 4" thinner and has 3 more cu ft of storage space? Oh, and a Taycan is the same footprint as a fucking Range Rover?

(2.) Weird-ass B-Pillar
who was the Einstein that designed the B pillar??? I’m a tall guy, 6’ 4”, and I have a helluva time getting in and out of the car. Because of the design of the B pillar, ingress/egress is a bitc*. I would love to take a Sawzall to the B pillar--forum link

(3.) Quality Issues?
Consumer Reports Pulled Recommendation of Porsche Taycan
There are lots of internet anecdotes I won't bother posting, but it's enough where I'd say if this isn't your 3rd or 4th car, and/or you're expecting typical Porsche quality, you might be disappointed ...

Anyway, I'm not ready for an enormous sedan that's tough to get in and out of with potential reliability/quality issues that has limited range.

Kinda hard to make the but-there-aren't-many-better-options-honey argument.

Part of it is the frequency and how the manufacturer takes care of the customer. The US manufacturers lag the premium German brands in every metric here unfortunately. Which, wouldn't necessarily be a problem except for GM, Ford (sort of Dodge) have prices that are as much if not more than the Germans now. They definitely have the performance to match, but they need to up their game in a bunch of ways to take better care of these buyers IMO.

Reliability, looks and performance are not the F80 variants problem, for the most part to me. You'd be bored with it immediately and being looking elsewhere pretty quick.
I dont think I would be bored immediately. I have not had anything close to the level of F80 fun for almost 2 years now. Just a bunch of normie cars.

The crank hub was one of the reasons I sold my last one and never really considered another. I want to be able to tune, tinker, run e85, etc without worrying about spinning the hub.

My other complaints were sound and numb steering. Well BMW isnt fixing their steering anytime soon and the exhaust seems to be better with a single mid pipe. Heard one at a car show.

A big plus is the styling of an F80. Its a beautiful car IMO. I would be looking for a 16-17 NON comp pack manual with full leather in the $40s. Not a fan of the icon headlights or the comp pack wheels/seats. No way would I pay over $50k for one.

Just get that crank hub fixed. I ordered the EL resonated pipes; we'll see how it sounds after that.

I don't plan to tune in the foreseeable future; if any, just a slight bump in power and I'm happy.

Heh I wasn't a fan of the comp seats but also the shadowline trim everywhere which is why I ordered my M4 without ZCP - I know I'm in the minority on that one!

You're not alone. Aside from the extra power, just about everything different about the comp pack was a drawback to me vs. the base car. Sounds dumb, but I think there were enough differences between the 2 that it could be argued that they were made for 2 different kinds of customers.

I've had both and don't really notice a difference. Even power wise. My 16 F82 had the static suspension with 18 513s and rode similar to my 20 ZCP on the Satan Wheels.

The only reason I ordered the ZCP for the 20 was to switch it up a little. It's not worth the 4-5 grand for the package that's for sure.

Unless they added it after 2016 my comp didnt have adjustable lumbar support like my 15 non comp.

Yeah. Forgot about that. Some were bothered by that. I never cared one way or the other

Paperwork for my Macan GTS all done. Taking delivery tomorrow, while probably saying goodbye to our Macan S.

Dealership also promised me an allocation for a GT4 if that is indeed my next car, told me no markup either. Said the 992 GT3 has no current release date but markup for that car will be there. There will also be markups on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

If there is any other complaint for Porsches, the mark ups annoy me a lot.

Good video. His point of BMW's i and M division's conflicting market campaigns around the 5-minute mark was very interesting.

And the associated bullshit long-term deposit programs that invite graft, disagreement, and acrimony.

I don't know what car would compel me to beg dealership personnel, buy lesser models to qualify, negotiate over msrp, and hand over 20k for indefinite safe keeping before release date is even known and purchase terms official, but I haven't driven it yet.

Not into secret codes for the privilege of spending 6 figures on a car. Low mileage and CPO so much easier.
