Wet Floor!

The F80 has a problem with being wet under the floor mat in the rear passenger spot. I thought it was a water bottle busted under the seat or a Red Bull can letting loose, but the car was sitting for a while with no use at all. It rained real good on the east coast today and the floor is wet. Door closed, windows closed and door seals seem to be in good shape. Where should I be looking for the inflow of water? I need help.

Garage List
Sunroof was my first guess too, I used to get clogged drains on my old E46 and it leaked into the cabin and trunk.

I imagine somewhere along the roof lines or upper window seals still must be the problem. Double check there's no water in the trunk too.

Has the windshield been replaced? That is when it happened to one of my previous cars. Got the rear floor wet which made it even harder to troubleshoot

Is the car under warranty, is the first question I’d ask. If so, take it to dealer. If not, remove all of the flooring and dry it out.

Once dry, start looking for source. You’ll need to dry it out regardless or you’ll have a higher chance of mold setting in.

You may have an AC drain line leak or clogged so the water goes into the passenger footwell.

This happened to me on one of my other car's windshields as well. They didn’t seal the windshield properly and had to replace the new windshield again with another one.

Reviving an old thread.

I just purchased an F83 M4 from a BMW dealer in Memphis. They replaced the windshield prior to shipping the vehicle to me. I replaced the floor mats the other day and noticed that the bottom of the passenger front mat had ice on it.

How do I determine if the water is entering the vehicle from the windshield OR a blocked side skirt drain?

Thanks!

You can take compressed air to the inside of the windshield seam. Place a piece of tissue on the opposite side on the outside and blow. If air is getting through the paper will indicate a leak.

I took it to the dealer. The vapor barrier behind the passenger door panel had come unglued in some spots. They charged $800+ to air out the carpet for a few days and apply new sealant to the vapor barrier.

This was covered by the selling dealer as I just took delivery of the car very recently.
