It had taken more time to bring me to the F83 conv. because when its close its looks like sh*tty 3 series and no one want to drive an ugly a$$ E-series here.
Decision were made in-between the new Z4 and my actual car, F83 won because of more seats if needed and as a daily its the more practically usage car.
Plus I want to have a hard top and this narrows the way to choose.
On the flipside: If I have had the opportunity to get my hands on a F82 with sunroof and loaded as I would like to have it, I had taken that one. Carbon roof is definitely no advantage argument to buy, but everyone at its own taste.

Like you said, eyeryone has their own taste- I actually prefer the look of the f83 with the top up vs the f82, I don't really like the slanted back, it looks like a compressed x6 imo. The f83 has a more squared back. Get an f83 in a color that shows off the lines, drop it, put some wheels, get a tune and you're set.

I get that most ppl hate verts, and hate that they make an m car in a vert, shit even the depreciation of the vert vs the coupe tells a story. But like most say living in fl or ca, the top pretty much stays down 24/7, to me it's a much better experience overall. Roasters just aren't for me- too small, that's getting into Miata territory

As others have mentioned, it all depends on what your goal and driving habits are. If you're tracking and want the best performance, don't get a convertible.

We don't track ours and we live in sunny California, so it was a no brainer. We've driven her with the top down as much or if not more with it up. We also love the hardtop mechanism. It's an engineering marvel and watching it going down doesn't get old. We also hate soft tops, so the newest model of the M4 convertible is not for us.

Couldn't agree more! Moved down to Florida and had to swap my f82 for an f83! Hardtop is a game changer compared to a soft top. Couldn't get enough of the sound after I added some downpipes and a Dinan exhaust.

Agree with everyone's comments about it being vert.

I'll add in I think you are seeing some correction in the market. Rate hikes are going to occur and with the volatility in the markets I think people are either cashing out or holding on.

2022 probably isn't going to be the last few years of huge tech and crypto gains.

But with the phuck do I know. Haha

Convertible M cars are not as desirable as their carbon fiber counterparts. When the roof is down, it takes up so much room in the trunk and makes it unusable. The rear seats also look weird as they seat almost 90 degrees. The silhouette of the F82 is one of the best part of the car, but the F83 does not follow suit, hence why it is deemed less desirable, save for a very small niche.

I've been a BMW owner for 25 years...
'95 E36 M3 with a stick and a sunroof (coupe, dakar yellow on black)
'06 E53 X5 with a stick & a sunroof (last year of the X5 offered with a stick, silver on black)
'16 F82 M4Comp with a stick & a sunroof (loaded with absolutely every package and option except ceramic brakes. Silverstone on Sakhir full.)
See a pattern? lol I won't buy a car unless it's a stick and has a sunroof. I love that a sunroof gives you 50% of the sun and air without having to deal with a convertible and without feeling closed in like a slickback.

As for BMW verts, I had 1995 325ic, 2000 M Roadster, 2001 M Roadster (and a bunch other bmws, e39 M5, X5s, etc) and now 15 F83 that I picked up at a good price. I chose to buy from CarMax due to their awesome and cheap warranty, covered for next 4 years for a bit more than $2200. Car is mildly tuned so engine may not be covered? but anything goes wrong with top, that alone would be worth the price of warranty.

I had a hard time choosing between 2015 Z4 35is and M4 but having two extra seats just in case along with seemingly more reliable s55 vs N54 sealed the deal. Absolutely love the car, even stock exhaust, with a bit of tuned burble, it is silly fun!

I've had an E46, E93, F83 and G14 convertibles. As posted previously, they are not track cars, but you can't beat them for a nice drive, especially in the mountains. I recently went back and got my 2nd F83. It was an '18 with all the M-Performance add ons and no where near the cost of the originally posted car.

Take your time, you can find one that isn't stupidly priced. Took me 9 months of searching, but I got a solid deal and puts a smile on my face every time I take it out.

Evening all, I have a 2019/19 M4 comp cab in San Marino blue with ivory leather, carbon M4CS splitter, rear defuser, carbon mirror covers & genuine CS bonnet, larger brakes 6/4 piston gold calipers but run the steel docs as carbon chatter to much when cold.
Akropovic pipe & DMS tumed, finished off with a set of Eibach Pro-kit springs…..Now compared to my E46 M3 cab is on another level but the actual sound of the S54 on chat in a tunnel as my 46 M3 has a full super sprint lightweight race system inc headers…. The sound is absolutely amazing👌
To me the non turbo cars sound awesome compared to the turbo area we now have to live with!🙄

The problem with verts is if the top is down and your a guy you can’t have another guy in the passenger seat.

That’s really insightful… cos it takes an actual man to be fine with that situation
