My 2018 M3 comp is the worst creaker ever. From day 1. It's so bad, I'm almost ashamed to take passengers with me.
Worse than my 2009 335i, which was already pretty horrible.
My last 2015 M3 did not creak at all. Never in three years.

I tried Gummipflege, which did absolutely nothing. Now I applied (smeared) Teflon grease onto the black trim and that fixed it. Finally silence. Let's see how long it will last.

I tried waxing the shadowline trim two weeks ago, and it worked well, but only lasted a couple days before light creaking began again. If the Sailkote doesn't last, I'll be going the Teflon tape route also, though I'll likely ask the dealer to do it under warranty first.
Two weeks after applying the McLube Sailkote to the flocking and the black Shadowline trim, no noise. Zero. So far so good.

After my break-in service today I noticed that the driver side window is much better but all the other windows are still the same/rattling. Maybe they misunderstood that it was just the driver side. The tech notes does say "removed excess wax from shadowline trim, if customer still finds noise the next step is to reapply 3M adhesive" (paraphrasing)

I have a nasty rattle from the passenger door trim. Started at 200 miles. Disappointing.

Seriously... and considered a luxury brand at that.

That said, I have ~15k miles on a 2yr old car and my only complaint is the Right drivers side seat bolster makes a crap load of noise against the center console. I'm desperate for a fix.

See if it's the lock pin... all 4 of mine started to rattle and just got fixed at dealer after 2 years of hearing it. I also went crazy with the gummi and finally in the right spots and after years of creaks and rattles it's like I'm in a different car today

The difference between my M3 and my wife's X4 M40i is night and day. My M is very creaky around the windows whereas her X is silent as a bank vault.

I'll need to try the suggestions that many people have on this forum.

Well, after a few days the creaking returned. That didn't last very long. At least the creaking sounds different now. Not quite as loud (yet).

From years of dealing with this issue on multiple BMWs, especially my E39 M5, the only thing I've found worthy of using is Krytox GPL. Buy the 2oz tube. Clean all the seals and door frames with 50/50 iso/h2o, then apply the Krytox.

A couple of years ago I bought a used E91, and every single door, window and rear hatch were creaking like crazy. After full cleaning and Krytox, the car has been completely quiet since. On that car, I did need to apply it to the window seals also.

Gummi Pflege is basically a waste of time. Carbotech came and went, but it worked a bit better/longer. Neither of these is worth using compared to the Krytox.

I open my door windows a tiny bit and car is quiet. I hear it especially inside a parking garage. How about you?

I wonder if this issue all of you are describing is mine. Mine sounds more like a rattle but its hard to tell, sounds like its coming from the passenger side and I hear it all the time over uneven road. Its so annoying and pretty loud.

That's what I was referring to in my post above about the window seals on my E91. After doing the door seals, I still had some creaking, so I used a detailing stick that has a little foam pad on the end, and cleaned all the window seals in that channel with the 50/50 iso/h2o. Then I used the Krytox on all the window seals. Total silence, and I've not had to redo it now for over 2 years.

Has anyone found a grease that won't leave a shine or residue? Also, I'm a bit unsure on which door seals it the lube should be applied to? The soft one, the hard one or both?

I need to try this. Waxing worked until the first heavy rainfall, then back to squeaky mcsqueak-M3. I wonder if they changed the rubber seals between '15 and '18 or if its a door tolerance issue. If I roll the windows down, squeaks are gone also...Thanks for the tip.

I agree with this 100%

I've used this stuff on my last 3 BMW's and never had the window creak issue come up again.

I just picked up my brand new F80 and the windows creaked horribly right away. I applied this along the top of the door seals as indicated in this thread as well as thin layer on the black shadowline trim and the creaks stopped completely.

Which Krytox GPL you recommend? It’s the grease one right?

Going to buy some on Amazon because my door seals have been creaking since day 1 too...

Hey guys, have the same problem here.

Could someone who applied the Teflon tape post pictures of where it was applied?

My dealer applied it on the body of the car itself (basically where the doors touch the body when closed) and the rattles were gone for like a week but now they're back so I want to go tell them how they should apply it again.

Let me know if you can see the tape in the body of the car.
