I have a BM3 Stage 1 - why has my heat exchanger blown twice?

Hey all, need some gurus here to help me please.

BM3 stage 1 tune. Don't really drive the car hard much... but my heat exchanger on top of the engine has dumped coolant twice.

About to take the car back in for service to get it replaced again but can someone tell me how this seemingly rare issue has now happened to me twice?

I'm not that familiar with that cooling circuit so could there be something else going on in the system causing this issue?

To clarify; The heat exchanger malfunctioned by leaking coolant into the engine?

Could just be bad luck. The OEM heat exchanger is a known weak link. It is rare to leak, but its known to be a wink link.

Do you drive the car hard and shut it off while hot?

The Heat Exchanger (Radiator) is located right behind the front bumper. Title should be updated to Charge Air Cooler (Intercooler).

OK... OK... Everybody calm down! My apologies.

Service just called and told me a rock hit my heat exchanger... When I had originally called the SA said "I bet it's the same thing you just brought it in for" - which was the internally leaking charge air cooler.

I put the cart before the horse. Now waiting for a quote to swap out the exchanger.

Looking at different DIY threads, doesn't look too tough.

Since when? It’s not like this car has cooling issues.
